“I’ll always be at your side even though we’re separated. It’s a promise!” those were Shyn’s last words before he left.
“It’s a promise you said”Iris sighed as she remembered Shyn before they parted.
Iris is now a second year high school and it’s been 6 years since she got separated from Shyn, her bestfriend.
“Whaaat!?”
That morning the whole neighbourhood was been surprised by the shout of Iris.
“What’s the matter sis?” Suzumi asked, Iris’ sister
Iris ran up and down their house.
“Why didn’t you wake me up?” Iris said as she hurriedly ate her breakfast and put on her roller blades, then rushed outside.
“Because you said you can wake up by yourself,” Suzumi called after her sister and watched her rushing on the street. “My, is she excited?” she wondered.
At the school a new transferred student came.
“Class, I would like you to meet Shyn.” The teacher said
Hearing this name Iris was surprised. ‘Could it be? Was it really him?’ those thoughts kept on ringing in her mind.
Shyn entered the room and when he saw Iris he thought, ‘She looks familiar’
He was seated next to Iris.
“Hi,” she said delightedly. “Have we met before?” Iris said hopefully
“What?” Shyn looked at her. “Why wanna hang out with me, Miss?” he said in a cocky voice.
Iris was so disappointed. ‘It can’t be him, he’s not… nice and kind. He’s not my best friend.’ She decided.
Iris kept on thinking about it. On lunch break she went to the rooftop to be alone.
“How dare him! It can’t be him, ‘cause even though there’s a similarity on their face their attitude is totally different!” she kept on repeating to no one in particular.
Without knowing that someone else’s on the rooftop she kept on muttering.
“What’re you talking about? Whose attitude is different?” Shyn said awkwardly.
“It’s none of your business!” Iris said trying to hide her surprise of Shyn’s sudden appearance.
Shyn tried to be nice, “what are you doing up here?” though, Iris responded in a not very nice tone.
“Like I said, it’s none of your business! Why do you even care?”
Shyn kept silent, ‘I don’t think it’s her. I must be mistaken…” he thought.
Iris broke the silence.
“I really hate boys, they’re so insensitive and…” she trailed off but continued again, “and they can’t even keep their promise!” she said rudely.
“What promise? Is that an insult? Hey!!” Shyn said as he saw Iris leaving.
“No, it’s not! I once had a friend, you have the same name…” she paused then tears fell down her cheeks. “A promise? He didn’t even come back, he said he would…”
Iris burst into tears and run away.
‘He didn’t even come back, he said he would…’
Those words kept on ringing in Shyn’s mind. Then he suddenly realized that- that girl was Iris, his best friend. He was being rude to other girls because he was waiting for his long lost friend.
“I lost her once but never will I let it be twice.” Shyn said and then he rushed down to find her.
He looked everywhere but he can’t find her until he finally found her near the fountain.
“You’re crying again,” he said gently. “Aw, you’ll have more wrinkles if you frown again!”
Those words surprised Iris, so she turned to look at Shyn.
“Now I found you and I’ll never lose you twice!” he said smiling.
Iris wiped her tears. Now she knew that it was really Shyn, her best friend, whom she was looking for and whom she’s been waiting for this whole time.
Shyn held Iris’ hand like what he used to do whenever she was crying. The bell rang and both of them went to their classroom and talked about themselves.
