I get up from my comfy bed that I missed for eight years. Ugh, yesterday was my first back and I spent a lot of it crying over a guy I haven't seen in eight years. He was my world, it's okay. I've moved on, we were only ten for God's sake. I pick up my phone and ring my best friend.
"Kristinaaaaaa, I cant do this. When are you moving here?" I hear her laugh from the other line. "It's not that bad I bet." I shake my head then realize that she can't see me. "I saw chase." I practically whisper into the phone. "I take it that it didn't go too well," I hum in agreement.
"I'm still looking at apartments, okay? I'll be there Friday and then we can look at the apartment I'm thinking about moving in to. Do you have any old friends there? I mean, besides Chase." I sit up in my bed. "No, I wasn't exactly a social butterfly." I can tell that she is pouting on the other side of the phone. "Well, go to the mall or something. I bet Sarah would like some time to get to know you." I nod. "Yeah, you're probably right. I'll ask her if she wants to go today. I'm gonna take a shower. Bye, love ya" I say into the phone. "Bye love ya!"After I get dressed and ready for the day I walk out to the kitchen, finding my dad and Sarah talking. I smile at them. "You never told me you were back after you saw Chase, how did it go?" I laugh with sarcasm dripping in my voice. "He fucking hates me," Sarah chuckles at my choice of words and sarcasm. However, my Dad wasn't too happy. "Hey, language." I smile at him innocently. "I like your wife dad," she laughs and smiles. He rolls his eyes and I grab some cereal and milk. I pour myself a cup of coffee and sit down to eat.
"What are you doing today Sarah?" She seems slightly surprised by my question. "I wasn't planning on anything," I nod. "I just want to know if you would like to go with me to the mall? Maybe get to know each other a bit better?" She nods and smiles. "Yeah, that sounds perfect. I'll get ready now and then we'll head out. Sound alright with you?" I nod. "Yeah perfect"As of right now I'm sitting in Victoria's Secret waiting for Sarah to try in some lingerie. Talk about awkward. I see some familiar faces walk in. Chase. And Vanessa. The basic bitch that we would always talk about how much we hated her. But I guess it's different for him now. She drags him to the lingerie section and I roll my eyes. Though, seeing them, makes me jealous. Maybe it's just cause I thought he was supposed to end up with a nice girl, not a slut. He was supposed to end up with his child hood friend. Me.
I catch his eye. Vanessa notices and drags him to where I am sitting. "Brynn! What are you doing back in town?" She squeals with excitement. Did I forget to mention that I was forced to be friends with her? She never caught on. "Well, I just turned eighteen. I wasn't going to stay with my mom so I decided to move back here, where I had close friends and family." I look at Chase. He stays there, his jaw clenched. Yet, he still looks me right in the eye. "Oh yeah! You and Chase used to best friends way back when. Back when he was scrawny and weird." I suddenly get defensive.
"I liked him the way he was. He was nice and caring." She gives me a look. She tries to laugh it off. "But, everyone changes, right?" I give him a passive aggressive look. "Let's go babe." She pouts. "I want to visit with Brynn. Hey, maybe we all could watch a movie. You must have a boyfriend, look at you!" She's being really nice, maybe she changed. "Actually I do. How about tonight?" She nods and smiles. Fuck, I definitely don't have a boyfriend. "Yeah perfect. Same house right?" I nod. "Cool. I'll pick you up at 9." I smile and give a wave goodbye. Maybe she isn't as bad as I thought."Will you please pretend to be my boyfriend? I'm begging you Jack." As of right now I'm on my knees begging my friend to pretend to be my boyfriend.. "Ugh fine. I can't believe this is why you made me drive all the way here for this. Does this mean I can to kiss you?" I look at him. "Only if they don't believe it. That's an if." He smirks at me.
. "They'll be here any minute." The doorbell rings and I sigh nervously. "I really hope this doesn't end terribly." I open the door to reveal Chase. And only Chase. "Chase," I breathe out obviously checking him out. He smirks and I stop. "I thought you have a boyfriend." I feel Jack wrap his arm around my waist. "She does." Chase raises his eyebrow. "Vanessa couldn't make it. She insisted that I go," I nod. "Okay then, let's get the show on the road."Jack leans closer to me. "I have to go to the bathroom, I'll be back okay?" I nod. He gets up and leaves and Chase turns to me. "I didn't think you actually had a boyfriend." I clench my jaw. I don't want to lie to him, but I have to. "I didn't think you'd be with Vanessa. I guess things change," I'm still pretty pissed. "I can't say I'm proud of that. After you left, I lost myself." It makes me sad. "I'm sorry Chase. I really am." He sighs out and turns his attention back to the movie. "Things can never go back to the way they were. So don't try to act all buddy buddy with me, even though I forgive you." I look down as tears fill my eyes. "At least it's a start."
