Ethan Conley POV
The Royal Carriage has been found with the guards and driver slaughtered. We do not believe the King and Queen survived, but their bodies were not found.
I read the note out load to Ivy , General Blake and his son,Cole.
General Blake let out a shocked sigh and turned his head away so i could not make out the rest of his reaction
Ivy gulps and blinks rapidly, trying to keep her tears at bay. She starts to sniffle and breath heavily.
Cole looks down and his shoulders slump. I just stood there taking this all in. My parents are dead, which makes me King. I now have to care for Ivy and a country with no one to help me. I lay the note down on my desk and leave the room. With no where in mind, I find myself walking to a hidden clearance in the forest. My dad and I found it while hunting and it soon became a spot for our family to have some peace.
The bench in the middle of the clearing comes into view and I go and sit on it. I watch as the dandelions sway in the breeze and I think of all the days we used to spend out here as a family.
I remember mom braiding the flowers into Ivy's hair. Dad used to teach me about the plants and talk about when mom and dad were younger.
I always loved it out here. But, now it feels so empty without mom and dad." Ethan?" A small voice calls out to me. I look over and see Ivy standing by the other side of bench. Her lip quivering.
"Come here." I say and open my arms. She practically runs into them. I can feel her start to shake with the sobs she is trying so desperately to keep in.
" I can not believe they are gone." Ivy says. Her sobs break through and she buries her face into my chest. I hold her and rub her back to comfort her.
" It will be alright. Everything will work out." I say even though I, myself, am not sure how everything will work out.
We sit like this for awhile and eventually Ivy falls asleep in my arms.
I gently lift her up and carry her to her room. After that, I head to my room. I lay down on my bed and feel a piece of paper under my head on the pillow. I pick it up and read.Do not seek the wizard tied to your end
Rose Winters POV
It was around noon and I was out in the garden picking strawberries for my mothers pie.
She always says strawberries at noon make everyone swoon, and it is surprisingly accurate.
I once had a strawberry at 9:00 am and it was very bitter.
Asher who is a year older then me says it's because trolls cursed the berries and anyone who eats them at any other time besides noon will turn into a troll, which I know is inaccurate because I ate one and I'm still human.
Although his story was completely far fetched it scared my 8 year old sister Emily who then told my mom.
While Asher was being reprimanded I come up with another theory about fairies being happier at noon and blessing the berries.
This made Emily happy again and we haven't had an argument over it since.
I had just finished picking the berries when I heard a loud crash and screams come from inside the house." Mom, Dad!, Emily!, Asher! Where are you guys?!" I screamed but their was no response. I looked down and saw a note that read
Do not seek the wizard tied to your end
I then shoved the note into my pocket, grabbed a bag with some necessities, threw my hair into a messy bun and ran out the door. I was going to find my family no matter what it took.
Jack Carter POV
I'm lying on the ground wrestling with my dog Max when my mother walks into the room.
" Jack, would you mind running to the market for me. I need a few things. Here is the list, and do me a favor. Don't go out into the open and stay in the shadows. Maybe bring Max with you."
"I'll be fine. You keep Max here with you. Be back in a few."
"Ok, love you. Remember what I said."
"Love you too and I will, I promise."
Then I headed to the market, doing what my mother said, although I didn't know why I was doing it. I got the stuff on the list and headed home. When I got close enough I could hear Max barking and knew something wasn't right. I quickly dropped the bag and ran towards the house. I opened the door to find a wrecked house and a very angry Max.
" Down buddy."
After he realized it was me he dropped a piece of paper from his mouth and I picked it up and read it.
Do not seek the wizard tied to your end
I shoved the note into my shorts pocket, found someone to watch Max and I was in my way.
