Just Friends?

I Met my Long Lost Bestie

It was Josh. We used to be best buddies until one day he just left school for no reason at all....
And now we were meeting like after three years

" God! Amber I'm so happy to see you, how come you're....here?" Josh said, glad yet confused.
"Just moved here a week ago. But you tell me where the hell had you been all these years?" I asked as millions of questions stormed into my mind. Like seriously where was he?.
"Amber...I....I'll tell you later about all that".
He was trying to hide something from me though I didn't know what it was. Just when I was about to ask him the school bell rang and everyone dispersed.

The first lecture was mathematics. Ughh.. the worst of all subjects. I chose to sit at the front and Josh sat behind me.

While I was trying my best to pay attention to the teacher, someone started pulling my hair. It was Josh. Two years and he hadn't changed a bit. I ignored him for a while but he just wouldn't stop. Despite him being my bestest friend ever. There were times when I wanted to kill him too, now for instance.

"Cut it out" I wrote on a piece of paper and passed it to him making sure the teacher didn't notice.
He didn't stop. I turned back and he pulled a funny face that made me laugh so hard that I grabbed everyones attention.

" And what might your name be young lady?" My teacher asked.
"Uh...Amber." I murmured.
"Well Amber I am so interested in knowing the reason why you laughed."
" N..nothing ma'am I just remembered a joke I read last night. I'm really sorry." I lied.. cursing Josh
Everyone laughed.
"Silence!!...Well you should be sorry and make sure none of this happens again".
"Yes ma'am". I let go of a big sigh and Josh gave me that not-my-fault look.

The rest of the day passed by really fast and it was time to go home before I knew it. Though I wondered where Josh had disappeared. He didn't even talk to me much today. I wonder why was he acting so...wierd.

I was walking myself home when Josh came out of nowhere and joined me.
"So...who are you doing the Sceince project with Am..? Josh asked.

Am...He used to call me that before. So he was still the same old Josh I remembered. Maybe I was the one overthinking.

" I don't know I haven't decided that yet. What about you?".
" Me..? Uh ..I thought that maybe I could..uhh..do it with you..like if you don't mind..I mean it's okay if you don-"
"Sure."
"Alright. So how about we start from today."
"Todayy?..Josh I'm not sure if m-"
"Come on..it'll be fun, besides you can call your mum and tell her you'll come around till dinner."

Come around till dinner?. That was quite late but...then Josh.. I mean two years and we hadn't met or talked or laughed until we cried once . It did feel great with him being around again.

"So.?..is it a yes?"... Josh confirmed.
"Yup" I replied
"Okay.. great" He smiled right after saying that and kept looking at me while we were walking.
"What..?" I asked ..confused
But he just kept smiling for the rest of the time.

No one was home when we reached. Josh's parents were basically divorced and he lived with his mum who was mostly busy in her job. So it was always Josh and his younger sister (Stacy) home. She was really adorable. Though I was surprised when she greeted me with a hug as we entered. Surprised at the fact that she remembered me. (Probably cuz she was 3 when I last saw her).

"You hungry Am..?" Josh asked
"Not much ..but I could really use the bathroom right now"
"Well in that case I'll order us a pizza and Stacy could you do me a favour and guide Amber to my room".
"Okey dokey...this wayy" Stacy said.

She lead me upstairs where his room was. It was all neat and tidy. Whereas Boys were supoosed to be the opposite of neat and tidy (Drake for instance). But Josh was different. This was one of the things I liked most about him.

"Thanks Stacy" I said feeling exhausted.
"Hehe ..You're Welcome" she replied giggling and went.
I sat on the bed, leaned against the headboard, closed my eyes for a while and fell asleep...
