Papa, the rain is so heavy and I forgot my umbrella. Why are we in a church? We are supposed to be at home. OMG, the lightning strikes and it's frightening. Careful Pa, it is going to hit us!
Is it me walking up and down the hill? Wow what a sight and I am floating over this vast plantation! Pineapples, right, I love pineapples! Wait a minute, how come I am seeing myself? Maybe I am dead already but the lightning missed. Wait... hold on! A snake, a big snake! No, Mama, don't. It's too big, it can kill you. No, no, no! Help... Please help my mother! The snake is too much for her.
"Adele, Adele, pagmata na! Bangon na diha kay mag-istorya ta. Unsa gud ning hitaboa. Nganong gisikrito man ni nimo nako intawn. Abi ba nako og no secrets between us. Nagdahum ko nga girespito mi nimo ni Papa nimo apan nganong imo man ning gibuhat?" Matilde cried while pulling Adeles's feet down.
"Mama sad oi, duka pa kaayo ko. Patuloga sa ko ba. Layo baya kaayo akong gibiyahe, hapo gyud ko intawn Ma. Panghatag sa og chance bi, ayaw sa ko samoka, please lang." I replied with eyes closed while withdrawing my feet away from my mother.
"Dili mahimo nga dili ka mobangon. Kahinganlan na gyud tang mag-istorya." My mother replied while dragging me out of my bed.
My feet feel the cold tile as they touches the floor. I tried to hold on to my bed but Mama pulled me down thoroughly. I end up lying on the floor when she let me go. Sleepy and super tired I hurried back to my bed ignoring my mother once again. "Ma, dili lang sa lagi ta mag-istorya. Ako laging isaysay nimo ang mga nahitabo, promise. Mamawi sa gyud ko karon og tulog. Pasagdai sa ko ba." I said while covering my body with the blanket and closing my eyes again to sleep.
Her mother walked inside her bathroom and goes back with a glass of water. She pour it all to Adele's face. "Wala na koy pasensiya nimong bataah ka. Abi og nakagraduate naman ka, sayunsayunon nalang mi nimo ni Papa mo. Dili ni mahimo bangon na diha og mag-istorya na ta." Her mother cried and almost choked her voice but still manage to say it.
I was shocked for this is the first time my mother did it to me. My face is wet and it irritates me. Then I noticed that her eyes are red and she is in tears. It alarmed me so I stand up and immediately embraced her. She tried to push me away but I hold her tight. "Ma naunsa man ka nga naghilak man ka. Hubag naman imong mga mata." I whispered while resting my head on her shoulders.
Mama weeps so I stay still, "Di ba wala pa kay uyab?"
"Ha!" I let go of her shoulder and look her in the eye. "Kay wala gyud bitaw." Her angry eyes stared at me. Her questioning eyes bothered me so much. It seems to her that I am telling the greatest lie. I am confuse and my heart beats faster. How come she does not believe me? This is not going to be good.
My mother raised her eyebrow, "So, who is the guy downstairs talking to your father, asking your hand in marriage?"
I could not utter a single word. I scratch myself to check if I am awake. I am... alright, so I slap my face to really see if I am still on wonderland but I am standing inside my room. "I guess I am having another nightmare Mama, can you please wake me up?" I replied with a confused expression.
My mother tap my shoulder saying, "You are not. His family is here too, and is asking for you. Fix yourself og atubangon nato sila. Pagdali kay ganina ra silang nagpaabot." She looks tired. She brushes her tears away and leaves me alone in my room.
What is going on? I silently watch her back as she goes out of my room. The door closes but I keep staring at it. Confused, I turn around and dive back to my bed. I've got to get down and see it myself.
