He set each ornament on the tree. Filled with Christmas joy. Christmas wasn't for another few weeks but he could already smell the peppermint and burning oak in the fireplace, Giving him a jolly Christmas feeling. Jacob loved the holidays, and he was happy he would actually be able to spend them with his family this year. Last year Jacob had to spend Christmas in Europe. He caught a flu while on tour that sent him to the hospital, preventing him from catching the last plane possible out of Europe and back to the states for Christmas.

Jacob recalled that night, performing for all his  fans. He recalls the feeling on stage. The feeling of no worries and complete freedom.

"Honey are you okay?"

Jacob turned to his mother. And then looks downward realizing that he had dropped an ornament, Shattering around the space. Before Jacob could say anything his mother instructs him to move away from the scene 

"It doesn't matter now, go to the kitchen and grab a broom for me"

Jacob didn't hesitate. He jogged to the room beside the living room and dug into the pantry for the broom. By the time he got back his mom wasn't at the tree anymore, he turned his attention to his mom on the couch, on her new iPhone X. Jacob recognized she had a new phone a few days ago, and when he asked her where she got the money for it she had ignored him. But he already knows how. Jacobs parents don't let him have access to any of his money and legally speaking. He wasn't allowed to until he was 18. Which of course, pisses him off. But what pisses him off even more is that he's stuck with a cracked iPhone 6. So whenever he's arguing with either of his parents he thinks of bringing up how they both don't have a job and use all his money for themselves but he stops himself. He already has a cracked iPhone he's not trying to lose his xbox you know how it is.

"Yeah, tony that would be amazing thank you so much... yes well we will definitely consider it.. yes have a great day"

Beep

"What was that about mom?"

She lets out an exhale and in a preppy voice
"That was tony and he says there's an opening date on the 22nd for you to preform at the plaza in LA. You're gonna get to preform some Christmas songs!!!"

"What but that's just a few days before Christmas... and I wanted to spend it with you, dad, and Caroline." Jacob lets out a squeak, the thought of missing Christmas again gives him an eerie feeling.

"Don't be ridiculous Jacob" her voice transitions from preppy to annoyed.
"You won't miss Christmas. I'll look online tonight for available plane tickets. Money's tight and you preforming there will be good for you"

"If money's tight then how did you get that phone...? and how will you pay for the plane tickets?"  Jacob asks

She stands up and slides her phone into her back pocket "early birthday gift, and if you keep this attitude up you won't be getting any gifts from me nor your father" she grabs the broom from Jacobs hand and walks over to the tree

"Now I've gotta clean your mess up"

Jacob didn't feel like arguing with her. He went up the stairs to his room to play fortnite.
