Chapter 2
[Xavier POV]
As I sat in the court room listening to peoples crimes, I couldn’t help but wonder how the meeting with the person would go that would train my sons. I mean no one that had seen her lived to tell the tale, so we didn’t know what this person looked like. I imagined a man that only had muscles. Everywhere you would look you’d see bulging muscles. And the whole body must have millions of scars of all the fights he started. There would be a stubble on his chin, dull brown eyes, dirty blonde hair that he’d cut himself and a malformed face because of all the bruises he would have had. Very shabby clothes with blood stains and broken shoes. And we can’t forget the amount of weapons this person will have on him. So before he enters the castle he has to be searched.
‘Your Majesty?’ my right hand and brother Stephen said pulling me out of my thoughts. I looked up to see everyone looking at me expectantly and with surprise in their eyes.
‘Sorry, I just have a lot on my mind at the moment’ I stated quickly as to not worry the council. They all relaxed and continued on with the man in front of us. I knew where the surprise came from. I never got lost in my thoughts when we were judging peoples crimes. I shook my head softly as to clear my thoughts and focused on the man in front of me. But I couldn’t get tonight’s meeting out of my head.
I was pacing my office it was 10.30 PM and he still hasn’t shown up. If there is one thing I hate the most it’s waiting for someone. I’m the bloody King, for Gods sakes. You don’t keep me waiting. I was really agitated because ever since I came out of that court room I felt like I was being watched. I felt like I was watched by a predator and I was the prey. And that is what agitated me, feeling like the prey when I should be the predator. I let out a grunt of anger and started another round of pacing.
A soft chuckle sounded throughout the room. I immediately spun around to meet shadows. I thought I must’ve imagined it when I heard a voice, loud and clear.
‘You shouldn’t get so angry at someone that was way to early for their meeting with you, little king’ the voice said in a velvety yet rough voice. I couldn’t figure out if it was a woman or a man. But again I got angry because I couldn’t see who I was speaking with.
‘Maybe you should come out. That way I won’t be so angry’ I said my voice firm.
‘Naah, I like it here in the dark, besides its funny to see the great Xavier agitated. Little King’ the voice said back and chuckled. It was as if this person was all around me, not in just one place.
‘You know my guards are just one word away right?’ I said with smile. If this was going to keep like it was now might as well have a little fun.
‘Yes I know. But I’m also one word away from being gone and then you have to find another trainer really fast’ the voice replied immediately as if it didn’t have to think. Damn I’m starting to hate this person.
‘Just come out so we can discuss business’ I ordered, getting enough of the games. Surprisingly the voice agreed and came out of its hiding place.
Out of the shadows that were thrown by the curtains stepped a figure, but the whole appearance made you want to turn run away as fast as you can. I was surprised to say the least, this was total opposite of what I expected. I was expecting that I would see some skin and the ugliest face I could imagine.
Instead I didn’t see anything just a figure that was wearing a cape that shielded the whole body from sight. I bet that if the figure walked the only thing you would see would be the toes. On the cape was a hood but it was only a big, gaping, black whole you would see, not even a chin. Just below the hood was a sort of locket to close of the whole cape. It was so scary to see this figure that I, the King of Ardandon, wanted to cower in fear and beg for forgiveness.
‘Show your face and tell me your name’ I asked politely, not wanting to piss this person off.
‘I’m not gonna do either of those requests’ the figure countered, as if trying me out.
‘Show your face and tell me your name please’ I asked again, this time accentuating the last word. What I saw took my breath away. Out of the cape came an elegant hand with black nails that removed the hood of the head. My mouth literally fell open.
The face was beautiful. High cheekbones, sharp chin, small nose, lips that were in a sharp line and cat-like eyes. Framing her face was beautiful shining black hair. But the most mesmerizing were her eyes, they had the weirdest color. The eyes were a dark blue and filled with mystery and danger.
‘You can call me Heather, little king’ she answered the question. I was still mesmerized with her features, but snapped at the last part. I had her up against the wall in a second.
‘Never in the rest of your life call me little king again or I will severely punish you’ I said getting up in her face. The corners of her mouthed curled just a little bit. Before it could register she flipped us around and held me up the wall with one hand.
‘You know, people have threatened me in the past and let’s just say that their life ended a bit too soon. So I can call you whatever I want, little king’ she whispered. I fell to the ground as she let go, watching her walk to a couch and get comfortable.
‘Now let’s talk business. That is what you wanted right? To talk business?’ she asked very satisfied with herself. I got up and let it go that she dared to touch me, and for the next hour we got to the rules, payment, methods and time.
‘Okay so I’ll be here next week on Monday when the potential Queens arrive. It will make it less of a big deal, do you understand?’ she stated instead of asked. I just nodded as an answer.
‘Goodbye Heather’ I said formally, showing my status as King.
‘Whatever. See you, little king’ she said, dragging out the little. I was about to leap at her but she was gone. In the blink of an eye, she was here one second and gone the next. How does she do that? I asked myself. I guess I will find out when she arrives.
