Enemies or Lovers ?

Damn Ape

"A-are you serious ?" I stumbled across my words because what he asked me took me by surprise since he knew all that was in that the Forest .

"Yea I'm serious. Look we haven't been out in months , come on let's go take a walk around." He said trying to persuade me.

"What if we need help ? What if we lose track of time ? What if we forget the way back ? What if we run into-" Andrew cut me off by covering my mouth with his hand

"Calm down I have some weapons , food , and water in my bag. I have my watch , so we will be back before dark . We won't forget the way we came cause I'm gonna tie ribbons around the trees we pass. " He said taking his hand off my mouth slowly. I looked in his eyes for reassurance , and thought about it for a while .

"Fine , but we HAVE to be back before dark" he quickly smiled and hugged me tight.

"Yes ! Ok I'll wait by the back gate." I watched as Andrew left my room smiling bigger than when he came in my room. He didn't answer my question though. What if we run into the apes ?

I hesitantly looked around making sure I don't see anything alerting.

"It's so relaxing , beautiful , and quiet out here" Andrew said in awe. I would admit it was beautiful , and quiet , but the relaxing part nu uh !

"Hey look at that deer eating with its young" I looked and it was adorable. Her young was so cute with its spots. Then all of a sudden the mother deer head popped up and she looked around. She must've saw something because she took off with her baby .

Next thing you know , a spear that looked like someone made was thrown before Andrew and I . I clung to him as fast and as hard as I could. I looked around frantically before I heard a thump behind us.

What was that ? I froze and turned slowly to look at Andrew then turned even more slowly around frightened of what I would see. It was a ape ...

He had scars over his face and a some on his body. He was ugly and terrifying looking! I hid in Andrews arm as soon as the beast looking ape started to growl at us.

My heart thumped fast and hard . I'm surprised if he couldn't hear it. He came closer and closer. I starting backing up along with Andrew until we bumped into something hard and fluffy. We looked up and saw a silver back gorilla. I let out a small scream.

The ape signed something to the gorilla that looked familiar. My dad taught me sign language because when I was little my hearing wasn't all to good . I haven't used sign language since my hearing has gotten better .

The gorilla broke me out of my thoughts and grabbed Andrew and I by the back of our shirts and was walking us somewhere. "Oh please don't let them kill us" I thought begging over and over again .

After about 10 minutes later we arrived to what looked like a cottage of homes. I looked around and saw some apes walking out. The silver back threw us Infront of a house. Andrew tried to get up but the gorilla pushed him down.

We waited and waited until this ape that I've hated since my younger years walks out looking all mighty. This damn ape better let us go. Caesar looked down at us and snorted. "Why...human...here?" he asked

"We were walking through the Forest and your two goons grabbed us and brought us here" I answered back sharply while sucking my teeth. He looked me in my eyes and said

"Leave" I didn't understand him at first so I tilted my head in confusion and he said it again "LEAVE" he yelled at me. I rolled my eyes "Gladly you damn ape" I said back getting off the ground and helping Andrew up.

He started signing follow the humans and see if there's more. Is he serious ? I looked at him and said if you have something to say say it out loud and yes there are more of us , but y'all will not mess with us.

I was so angry ! Who does this killer monkey think he is ? He looked at me surprised then he went back to serious you know sign ? I folded my arms and leaned on my right leg and nodded.

He huffed again and waved his hand as in a forget you type of way and walked back into his home. I grabbed Andrews hand and walked past the apes and back into the wood. On our way home I scolded Andrew for bringing us in the woods , but later apologized.

When we got back I said goodnight to Andrew and went in my room took a shower , and went to sleep. Cradling my gold locket in my hand.
