A thousand cries, more or less distinct is the sound I dread hearing. The one long continuous ring of the school bell signaling the start of a new chapter of my life in Auckland, New Zealand.

Today has cleared up significantly, last nights storm has passed without a trace. No puddles in the green grass, no clouds in the blue sky. Just the warm rays of sunlight eating at the back of my neck. Kids to my left and kids to my right gossiping about the latest trends and Netflix series that they have been binge watching during the holidays. I am beginning to feel left out. I have no friends and I am not expecting to find any friends anytime soon. The muffled odour of sweat mixed with rose perfume- the Taylor Swift kind fills up my nostril holes.

Despite not wanting anything to do with school, I wanted a good future. Funny enough, my first subject was maths. Followed by English, Physics and History.

I follow my poorly drawn college map to my mathematics classroom. In "S Block" my map reads. After getting lost in the frenzy of students dashing to my left and right trying to find their classes, I finally see my classroom. Dead straight ahead of me.

My insides begin to turn, time slows right down. Sweat was salty on my lips like the Antarctic being vigorously kissed by the boiling hot sun. As I draw nearer to the hell hole, the world tends to spin faster around me. My heart races as if I have just finished sprinting up and down a mountain without stopping.

Reality hits. I stand before the plain sea green-blue wooden classroom door. Its four carved panels give the door depth and texture. Along with the draught proof window fixed on the top half of the door making seeing into the "torture room" as I like to call it, easy. The door creaked as pushed it open. I could feel a million tiny curious eyes burn into my pale, white skin as I slowly mazed my way through the grey vinyl floor riddled with desks and chairs. I hope this would end.
