A single moment in time
Captured within a frame
Was all I had
Of Mama and Papa;

Heads leaning close,
Peering down,
Smiling with glee
At the bundle that was me.

My fingers trace the beauty
Among whose roots they sit;
Large canopy protecting us
From harsh sunlight

Overflowing with tiny blossoms
Hue of a baby's cheeks
Resting serenely
On her long, smooth limbs.

I look up,
From where I sit
And am met with the same vision,
She offers the same safety,
Comfort and company.

And peeking among her emarald folds
Are nesting avians
Proud parents,
Smiling at their baby
Just like mine did,
Many years ago.
