Raven stared at her left hand as Damian and Celeste slept soundly a few feet away. Now that she knew that the Dragon Prince's egg hadn't been destroyed after all, she knew she couldn't fully carry out her mission. She couldn't kill the heir to Queen Diana when that very heir was the key to ending the war for good.
But was she ready to face the consequences of her actions?
She sighed and closed her eyes gently, only for them to open back up again, glowing violet. "Azarath, Metrion, Zinthos!" she shouted. Her hand shone violet for a second, but besides that, nothing happened.
The glowing red 'S' was still engraved in her skin.
Raven groaned in frustration before sighing in defeat. With this bind on her, she was nothing less of useless on this quest. Whatever was she going to do?
She suddenly caught sight of Celeste's cat, Liberty. The feline was awake and watching her with distrusting eyes.
"Don't look at me like that," snapped Raven. "I'm not going to hurt the Princess, or the Prince for that matter." She had no idea why she was talking to a cat, but then again she didn't know why she was traveling with a human prince and princess.
Liberty just continued to stare at her.
Raven's lip curled in annoyance before she turned to look at the castle, her face softening. She could barely make out a large fire and soft, sad music. Her other marking had disappeared, which meant the King and Queen were dead.
This was probably their funeral.
OoOoOo
The next day, Raven walked over to Damian, who was sitting under a tree and writing in his journal. "Damian," she called trying to get his attention. No response. "Damian." Still nothing. "Damian!"
Damian jumped slightly, raising his head up to meet Raven's eyes.
She raised an eyebrow. "That is your name, right?" She touched her chin thoughtfully. "Or was it Dante? Donovan?" She smirked to let him know she was teasing.
Damian's eyebrows furrowed, obviously not getting the joke. "No, it's Damian," he told her. "I've just been thinking about my sister's powers." He gestured to the girl slumbering away not to far from them.
"She's powerful," Raven informed him and that was the truth. "Not many sorceresses can cast successfully for their first time." In fact, she had been the only one in Azarath in the last century to cast for the first time.
The meant that Princess was at least as strong as her.
He sighed. "Neither of us even knew she had magic," he admitted. "I had only found out earlier that day from Zatanna."
"You mean that magician woman why was trying to kill me?"
"Yes."
Raven hummed thoughtfully. "Your sister seems to be a fire elemental, I can sense it from inside her."
"How many magical elements are there?" Damian, who had never learned much about magic in the palace.
"There are six," answered Raven. She gestured for him to hand over her journal and he obliged. She began writing as she spoke. "Fire, water, darkness, light, earth and air. Most elemental powers have to be inherited by birth and by kingdom. Azarathians are primarily darkness elemental's.
"Your kingdom, usually produces a mix of them, hence why your sister is fire and your magician - Zatanna, was it? - is darkness like me. Atlantis has water elemental's and so-on and so-forth. Sometimes, there'll be a mix in other kingdoms which gives different elemental's, but besides Themyscira, they're usually pretty solid." After her explanation, she handed him back his journal.
