We didn't talk on the way to the hospital but he kept stealing glances at me when he thought I wasn't looking bit oh I was. In fact to tell the truth I haven't really stopped staring at him but I was good at pretending to not look at someone. The ride seemed to take forever and a day but eventually we arrived at the hospital.

   "I'll escort you in ma'am."

"She doesn't like to be called ma'am."  Jake chuckled slightly under his breath. "Her name is Violet."

"Well do you two like no each other or something?"

"Ummmm actually no we just met when this stupid idiot ran a red light and almost killed me." I glared at Jake.

"Well you seem pretty buddy buddy to have just met."

"Well what can I say she's hot." I stared at Jake opened mouthed. "Crap did I say that out loud" He scratched his hair and quickly looked at the concrete beneath his feet. The EMT didn't know what to say either.

"Umm what?" Was all that would come out of my mouth. I was in utter shock. No guy had really ever complimented me except for drunk guys at bars but not because I'm ugly but because I always have my nose in a book or writing my articles.

"Well you're like umm really attractive and stuff. I think we need to get into the hospital and like stuff." He wouldn't look me in the eye. He just continued to concentrate on his shoes as if they were a mysterious new object he'd just found.

The paramedic shuffled in front of us and we followed closely behind him without saying a word. They dropped Jake off at the emergency ward but since I had an actual physical injury I went straight to the doctor. I hope he waits up so I can get his number though.
