"I'm not done yet, Bri" She grinned. I gave her a confused look. "What do yo-" Before I could finish my sentence, the wind starts to blow around me. I cover my eyes and sit down before I fall down. I look back up when the wind stops blowing to see Desiree floating a foot up in the air. My mouth falls to the floor and eyes fly out my face.

"How did you learn all this so fast?" I ask in disbelief. She's flying. She's actually flying. "I think you dazed off, but while you were spaced out I grabbed the book out of my mom's hand and started reading. It turned out to be really easy." She explains. She floats back to the floor before walking off. I follow her without saying anything.

Maybe if I were to read the book a bit more, I could learn how to control my powers too. I think back to my 'confrontation', I guess you would call it, with the drunk man. I start to tear up realizing I technically killed someone. Wow, so much could happen in one day.

"Bri!" Des called. I quickly get out of my thoughts and look at her. She stopped right in front of her house.  "Yes?" I responded. "You're spending the night at my house, I already called your mom and told her." She informed me. "When did you that?" I ask confused.  "While we were walking home. You know, you space out a lot." She says playfully with a grin on her face. I just smile softly. Her grin turns into a frown.

"Ok, what's up with you." She asks, putting a hand on her hip and giving me the 'don't you dare lie' face. I sigh, "I killed a man Desi. I'm a murderer." I say sadly. Her expression changes from sassy to caring. She brings me into a hug. "He deserved it and you know it Brianna.  He was going to rape you." She comforts. "He probably had a family and people he cared about and I fried him." I continue.

"I'm pretty sure if people cared for him, he would be with them and trying not to rape poor girls on the street." She jokes. "He was drunk Desi." I say. "For a reason." She says. I give her a confused look. "He got drunk to forget something. All you did was help him."

"You sound like a psychopath." I snort. She glares playfully, knowing her 'psychotic behavior' made me smile. "Just go inside Bri." She pushes me into the house as I laugh. We go inside and see her mother, again, drinking a cup of coffee and watching 'The Good Doctor'. "Mom! We're in my room!" Des yells as we walk into her room. We hear her mom shout a quick 'ok' before closing the door. Des goes to her dresser, opens a drawer, and pulls out the thing that started this.

The book.

I freeze staring at the thing that will forever change me. She casually sits down on her bed. She looks at me and gestures for me to sit by her. I snap out of it and lay down next to her. "Why'd you grab the book?" I ask. "We have to practice somehow." She vaguely explains.  I glare at the book with fear and curiosity.

Des looks up at me, "You good?" I look up at her. "Uh are you sure about doing this? I mean, we played with that and now look at us." I state. "We'll be fine." She pushes off. I sigh and nod, looking at her flip the pages. She finally stops at a page and starts reading aloud.

"'There are four special people in this world. They attract eachother and will always stay together. They have the powers of a god.' What the hell does that mean!?" Des finishes with a confused look. "Language Desi!" Her mom yells from the living room. "Sorry!" Desi yells back. "It means... " I look at the book in awe before I finish my sentence.

"We're not alone."
