The Past May Haunt You (Captain America fanfiction)

Chapter 1, The Past and Now

Hello everyone! I changed the name of my character and edited this piece. I also have just uploaded Chapter 2! I hope you enjoy the changes!

           "Oh sweetie, don't worry everyone will like you."

         "Mommy, won't if they don't?"

       "Kaira trust me, you brighten up the room." She smiles at me and puts my jacket on over my dress.

       "But Mommy I'm not like them."

      "Kaira no one is the same you must remember that and never be ashamed of your powers." She hands me my backpack, "your powers are a gift and you must cherish them."

       She kissed my forehead and I walk onto the bus. This was the last normal day that I would ever have. My life changed that night and I ended up being alone.

         Today is the day I, Kaira Myers, will act normal and pretend I'm not a complete freak; today I will control the one thing I sought out to hate but it was always apart of me, my powers.

         This date won't end in madness it is just a dinner and it can only take at least three hours tops. I looked at myself in the full length mirror, my blond hair was pulled back into a clean ponytail, the dress I wore was a dark blue to bring out my sapphire eyes and I wore minimal make up. I grabbed my purse and stepped out of my house, the cool Indiana air hit me like pins and needles, I shivered and of course once I looked down I'm wearing a coat that I had not been wearing two seconds ago. Crap, my stupid powers I looked around and no one was watching thank god! I climbed in my car and took off to the local diner.

         Once I reached the diner I parked and the neon sign blared through my windshield, I took in a deep breath and exhaled. I stepped out of my car and grabbed my phone from my purse.

"I'm here." was popped up on my phone's screen.

          Once I entered the diner the coat was gone my throat got so dry and I knew that this date would end in a disaster. I walked through the second set of doors and looked around for my date. He stood up and waved to get my attention, I walked over to him and sat down. My mind screamed leave, make up an excuse to leave, I had canceled many public dates before and I was nervous about the whole dating game anyway.

"Kaira, are you feeling better?" Smith asked with concerned eyes.

"Yes, much better actually, thank you for asking."

"Well no wonder you got sick you aren't wearing a coat and it's toward the end of November."

"I totally forgot one I was so excited to leave the house." I lied, smiling.

           For the first time in a long time I actually felt normal I smiled at him, he was so kind and handsome. He insisted on putting his jacket around my shoulder and walked me to my car, I gave him his jacket once we reached my car and I was about to turn and get in when Smith grabbed my shoulder and turned me to face him he was leaning in towards my lips but he froze and backed away his eyes wide. He ran and yelled something at me but my heart was pounding so fast that I couldn't make out what he had said but I knew my life was falling apart. I looked at my reflection in my car window and sure enough I was some crazy looking dark blue thing, I jumped in my car and sped home. I unlocked my door entered my quaint house and leaned up against my front door and slid to the ground hugging my knees, crying. Every time a guy tried to get close to me I turned into that blue creature and because of that I'm a 22 year old women who has never been kissed.
