I'm not exactly sure what happened.... then again no one is. All I know is that everything was fine.. and then, like a happy moment or a good time, it was gone. Panic and chaos were the only thing left.

I remember the last day where my life was normal, it all seemed so simple back then. What I wouldn't give to go back to it, but that will never happen. I remember that day so vividly, like the clearest image painted permanently into my brain. I'm glad I still have it, it's one of the few good things left.

It was a normal day in central California when I was in my dorm sleeping, catching up on some much needed rest from the previous day of jamming in some last minute studying. It was about 9 am, middle of the week. I turned over on my bed and stared at the clock, willing it to go slower or turn back by some magically power I wished I possessed.

"Ughhhhhh" I groaned and reluctantly began to get ready for class.

*thud thud thud thud thud*

"Damn freshman late for class again"

I smiled to myself as I pictured those Naruto running poses often associated with younger classmates.

*thud thud thud thud thud*

*CRASH*

"What the..." I mumbled as I threw on a sweater.

I peeked out through the eyehole and saw blurry shadows passing quickly by

I peeked out through the eyehole and saw blurry shadows passing quickly by. More thuds and loud sounds followed. I was about to open my door when a voice yelled out as it passed "Just run to the car! Forget your laptop!"

What the hell is going on? Should I run out? His voice sounded panicked and scared, something about it did not sit right with me. Then I stopped dead in my tracks. It's all a joke right? It has to be. Some stupid prank a senior is pulling that'll get us on the news. Probably said he has a bomb or something crazy. It'll get some asshole arrest for causing widespread panic. Geez, I couldn't wait to see his face as the cops walked him away in handcuffs.

I still heard the shuffling of feet outside my dorm, it did little to calm my nerves. I mean, what kind of emergency is it that they want us to leave our rooms? Where it's technically the safest place.... unless it's a fire? But I would have heard the alarms... a bomb threat? Our speakers have a code black that plays on repeat. Same thing for a gunman. Code silver.

I kept racking my brain for an explanation as to all the commotion outside. I peeped out my window and saw a people here and there running towards the exits. Was this real? I felt like I couldn't move, everything was going so fast. I sat down and tried to think but found myself lacking and coherent thoughts.

Only one popped up that sounded good. Text my best friend Cindy.

"Have you seen the campus? It's crazy. Everyone is going nuts. Is this a joke? What's going on, they haven't announced anything to us."
