All of the smoke that filled King's Cross Station from the numerous trains parked in the platforms made everything seem like an illusion as you peered through the misty veil. There was no busier place than a train station. Everything needed to be as synchronized as clockwork. Moving tracks worked in perfect unison to avoid any sort of collision or delay. Despite this seemingly perfect system, there was always one uncontrollable variable. Humans. The same people that moved along the tiled ground in order to get where they belonged.
Even as a young girl, the redhead learned that not all things can be controlled, but she also knew that no one can make her choices for her, for fate was not written in the stars for anybody.
To Scarlett Dragomir, everything seemed like a dream that she never wanted to wake up from. Every time she blinked, a part of her feared that she would open them and somehow be back in her twin bed, her blue hues staring up at the ceiling, and her mother coming in, telling her that she had just imagined the day boarded the Hogwarts Express. Thankfully, however, it never happened. Everything was very much real, from the loud sound of the train's engines, to the clicking of her heels against the floor.
The young witch looked around the station with pure amazement at literally everything. All of the excitement ever since breakfast put a skip in her step as she pushed her trolley through the hall. Her trunks were filled with books, robes, and many other things that she, her mother, and twin brother had bought in their trip to Diagonal Alley. Perched on top of the stack of luggage was her Barn Owl, Alphie, who was a gift to her from her Aunt Adelaide. The owl came with a note from said aunt, saying that she couldn't come to see their first day boarding the Hogwarts Express.
Everything had seemed to fall into place ever since a Great Owl dropped two envelopes each with the Hogwarts seal into the mail slot of Scarlett's home, one that was addressed to the witch herself. It was easily a way to get her jumping with joy, and most likely the only time she was excited about getting mail on a Saturday morning. Another Dragomir had received a similar letter only moments after. The moment Nikolai Dragomir received his acceptance letter, new doors were opened for his future, just like they were now for Scarlett. Although the two may argue as often as they can, they were as thick as thieves. While Scarlett shared their mother's red hair, Nikolai had her eyes. They both, however, inherited her strength.
Cierra Dragomir was a single mother— one that's had to raise two children on her own ever since they came out of her womb. Scarlett's father was a mystery to her, and her brother. Her mother never spoke a word about whoever their father was. There was only one thing Scarlett knew about him, and that was the simple fact that he was gone, before he could see his children. Gone before he could hear them say his name. Gone before he could buy their first birthday cake, and light the single candle. Truly, if Scarlett was being honest, it had never really bothered her, when most people thought it would. As far as she was concerned, they were fine as they were. They had what they needed, and it was enough for all three of them. Maybe she would have missed her father if she had met him.
