It had been around a week since your house had burned down. You and your mom were staying in a small motel just outside of Portland. Many people called to wish us well, and that they hope we can rebuild soon. But, one phone call made your mom smile and chuckle like crazy. It must be grandma or something, you mused to yourself. When your mom hung up, she had a look of delight on her face.
"Y/N pack up were going to Australia!" She almost yelled.
"Mom we can't go to Australia, I have school, you have work, and we don't even have tickets!"
"I'll call you out from school, my boss knows what happened to us and gave me the month off, and don't worry about the tickets, their covered."
She started to shove clothes into her bags, ushering you to do the same. Shrugging you walked over to your side of the room, and started to pack. This is a little strange, but hey look on the bright side no school, you said to yourself. There was a part of you that wanted to really know what was going on, but you silenced it, and continued to shove clothes into your bags.
Your mom called a cab, and in just thirty minutes you were at Portland International Airport.
"Y/N go to our terminal, let me get us checked in." Before you could respond your mom was grabbing you bags and shoved tickets into your hands.
This was all happening so fast. Why are we going to Austraila, who did mom talk to on the phone, why do we have to leave today? Questions just kept coming to your mind as you walked throught the huge airport.
Once at the terminal, you took at seat, and started to scroll through some junk mail. About two letters later and your mom was dragging you onto the plane. When did she even get here?
"Y/N right here." She guestered to the two seats in the way back of the plane.
Letting out a sigh, you plopped down into your seat. You looked over at your mom to see she had a book with her. So, I guess we aren't talking then. You sat on the plan pondering what had just happend. In less then an hour, you had gotten on a plane to Australia with no context to it at all. There's worse things I guess, you thought.
The sound of bags russeling woke you up.
"Y/N! Wake up! We're here!" You mom was bouncing up and down, while grabbing your bags.
You just yawned, and stood from your seat, feeling the pain not streaching caused. But, before you could streach, you mom was already grabbing your hands and pulling you down the row, off the plane. After going through TSA for the second time, you and your mom grabbed your luggage and started to walk to an exit.
"Terri said she would be waiting right here." Your mom chirped and held the door for you and your luggage.
"Terri?" You mumbled to yourself.
All of the sudden, screams of joy filled your ears. You looked up to see your mom hugging another woman, who looked very fimiliary, tightly.
"Y/N this is Terri, my collage roommate."
So that's why she looked so fimiliary, you had seen her in your mom's old photo albums. You shook her hand, and smiled at her.
"Sorry Robert, or Bindi couldn't come, they had to tend to the animals." She said after greeting you.
Robert? Bindi? Animals? Again questions raced through your head. You made the choice to just go along with it, and jumped into the back seat of the car, as Terri drove off. Throughout the whole car ride Terri and your mom laughed, and talked about 'old times' as they put it. You just rested your head against the window, and scrolled through Instagram. After a little while in the car you pulled up to what looked to be a office, but not at the sametime.
When you stepped out of the car, you smelled what smelled like animal poop. Looking around you saw that you were in a zoo.
"I'm sorry guys just had to have a quick stop at work to pick up the kids." Terri said.
Well at least the animal part made a bit of sence now. Then, out of the office came a beautiful beown haired girl, and a boy who looked to be about your age with blonde hair, both of them in zoo uniforms. They smiled at you, and held out their hands to shake.
"I'm Bindi" the girl said with a smile "and this Robert." She said looking over at the boy next to her.
A/N: What do you guys think of the first chapter? Should I write more? And just so we're clear this is supposed to be a love story between you and Robert but, it felt weird getting right into it so I made a intro to the story. XOXO
