"Jooheonie!" The kids screamed as they ran at him. Kids of all ages, from 3-8, rushed at him and wrapped their arms around his legs. They were orphans, but Jooheon made them feel like a whole family. Ever since he started volunteering at the local orphanage, he made their lives complete and they felt so much unconditional love from him.
"Woah!" Jooheon stumbled backwards and managed to catch his balance as the kids gave him hugs. An eight year old girl named Seo-yun looked at him with a smile on her face, revealing a gap in her teeth in the top row of her teeth.
"Jooheon, look! I lost a baby tooth." She grinned and held it out in her hand. He smiled at her and gave her a small container to put it in."Wow, Seo-yun. I'm so proud of you! Be sure to put the tooth in here, put the container under your pillow, and the tooth fairy is gonna come and visit." He winked at her, smiling.
"Oh wow! The tooth fairy has never visited me before." She smiled brightly and took off running to the director of the orphanage, Ms. Min-hee.A little boy came up to Jooheon and smiled.
"Hey, Ki-young." Jooheon said to him. The little boy giggled and ran off to join his other friends. Jooheon smiled and started walking when a bell rung.A voice came over the intercom and said,
"Mr. Lee Jooheon, please report to Ms. Ji-woo's classroom."
He stopped and turned around.
I wonder what I'm needed there for. He thought to himself.Ms. Ji-woo's class is 10-12 year olds so they know how to be mature. He got to the classroom and the kids in the class erupted into applause.
He laughed and said, "What's this about?"
"The kids really wanted to see you and show off their drawings." Ms. Ji-woo said.
He felt so happy and loved. "I'd love to see everyone's amazing masterpieces." He smiled and the kids started cheering."Yay! I'm so excited to show him my work! Ahh!" Different screams came from different kids and he smiled bigger.
"Okay, take a seat right here." Ms. Ji-woo said, pointing to a seat beside hers, where her grading sheets laid.
"Yes ma'am I will." He said and sat down.
"Okay, class. Today we're gonna be presenting our opinion of what a utopia looks like. We have a special guest, Lee Jooheon." He smiled as the kids applauded him with bright smiles on their faces.Ms. Ji-woo sat down beside Jooheon and got her grading sheets out.
"Okay. Who wants to go first?" All hands shot up and they both started laughing.
"Let me choose who goes." Jooheon said.
All the kids cheered. Ms. Ji-woo smiled.
"Okay, Jooheon. I'll let you choose."She handed him the class roster and Jooheon looked it over. There were a total of 5 kids in the class. He saw the names Chin-Sun, Min-jun, Ju-won, Soo-ah, and Min-ji.
He looked up at the bright smiles on each of their faces and called out, "Soo-ah. I choose you."He heard a squeal and watched as a brunette girl got up with her paper, and went to the side where everyone could see her. She was smiling brightly and she showed her paper. It showed a well-drawn house, with four people standing outside of it.
"My idea of a utopia is my house. Everyone loves each other, we rarely fight, and everything just runs so smoothly." She said.
"Very well done, Ms. Soo-ah." Ms. Ji-woo said. Jooheon nodded, silently giving his praise to her.
She beamed with happiness and turned in her paper, then went to sit down."Next is..."Jooheon looked at the roster again. "Chin-Sun."
A slightly taller blonde stood up with her paper and walked to the spot where Soo-ah was at. Her paper showed a castle. Not a Prince Charming kind of castle, but a sophisticated royal castle.
"My idea of a utopia is a castle. Nothing goes wrong here. Everything is perfect. You have people who do mostly everything for you and you can't go wrong with that." She smiled at Jooheon and he smiled back.
"Well done, Ms. Chin-Sun." Jooheon said. She smiled, turned in her paper, then sat back down.Slowly, but surely, Jooheon sat through each of their presentations and gave each of them a praising compliment. After everyone had done their presentations, it was time for Jooheon to go home. He gave his farewell hugs to all the kids and Seo-yun wouldn't let his leg go.
He grinned and bent down to her level. Her lip was poked out, pouting."I don't want you to go, Joo." She said sadly.
"Hey, don't worry. I'll be back tomorrow. Then you can tell me all about the tooth fairy." He winked at her and her eyes light up. Finally, he was able to walk out of the orphanage without no one being sad about him leaving. He walked slowly to his car. He always got exhausted from how much the kids loved to play with him. He got into the car, then his phone started to ring. He answered it after a second.
"Hello?" Jooheon said. He was met with a soft reply.
"Hello, is this Lee Jooheon?" The voice asked.
"Yes it is. May I ask who's calling?" Jooheon said.
"My son wanted me to call about your search for a roommate." The woman on the other line replied.
"Yes ma'am I am searching for a roommate." Jooheon said. He grinned. He had the flyers up for more than two weeks and finally someone was calling, interested in being his roommate.
"He is about your age and he gets along well with anyone." She said.
"Okay. Then the deal is yours." Jooheon gave the woman the address of his apartment and hung up.
I finally might have a roommate. I can't wait to see what he looks like and what his personality is like. He thought to himself. This day might have actually gotten so much better.
