A thundering crack rang out as another shell fell and clattered across the ground. Thonar stood firm at his position as the demon fell in front of him. It was strange. A year ago, Lucifer left Hell and never returned; since then, there had been constant war waging to lay claim to the throne he left vacant. Lucifer's generals, Thonar included, lead their factions in a desperate play for the that power and authority. The land which all of them called home was now divided into four sections, each held by one of Lucifer's former generals. Garnius held the Southern portion, Mistran the Western, Zingrid the Eastern and Thonar held the Northern section for himself. Garnius was the first to make his move, the lumbering buffoon. As soon as he gathered his forces he barged straight to the western providence of Mistran. Garnius was always the daftest of the generals but truly, he was a force to be reckoned with. His beastly figure towered over the masses and his strength was unmatched. It made sense given his occupation when he was alive. One of the fiercest Vikings ever seen. The hammer he wielded could crush a mortal just from the sheer weight of it, but in Garnius' hands, the maul was even more fearsome. His strength along with the destructive force of the hammer was more than enough to level a mountain if he had the need. Even the appearance of Garnius was like that of a creature from the depths of a wretched swamp. His greasy black hair draped over his shoulders like a thick curtain and his teeth had become blackened with decay. The nails on his hands were long and jagged. A monster indeed in every aspect. Despite his lack of military tact, he was quite effective with the strategy of charge in and kill all that were near. The tattered leathers he wore had been stained a dark brown from centuries of bloodshed caused by his hands. He took pleasure in the carnage. This war was as close to Heaven as the wretch would ever be.
Mistran was, in many ways, the polar opposite to the brute who attacked his territory. Mistran was more like a mortal man than hellspawn. His face was fair and pure as Lucifer's and his blond hair rested gracefully on top of his head and fell just below his shoulders. He was slim and tall, protected by the dull silver armor he wore. Mistran's blue eyes were akin to two small ponds in a mid-spring day; he would pass as an angel if it were not for his occupation. What set him apart from the other generals the most was his intelligence and battle tact, able to rival even the greatest minds. He was a masterful tactician and as soon as Garnius began his assault on the front lines of his providence, Mistran took his troops to the flank of Garnius' forces and pushed them back south until they were at their original border. After this had been accomplished, Mistran began to strike select points in Garnius' army, hitting weapons caches and different points of control. It was only when Garnius himself became involved greatly in the battles that Mistran was held to a stalemate with the behemoth.
Thonar's thoughts then transitioned to the one who attacked him, Zingrid. A fierce and arrogant general. She was eager to try and overthrow Thonar's territory with the new power struggle. As quickly as Garnius attacked Mistran, Zingrid began her assault on Thonar. She had always despised Thonar for his apathetic attitude towards near any matter which led her to believe he was unfit to be a general for Lucifer. Thonar's skill with a pistol, however, was the deciding factor which originally led Lucifer to allow him to remain in his court. This enraged Zingrid but she never dared to oppose Lucifer, but things were different now. Zingrid was a devil of regular stature with deep black hair like a moonless night which had been cut off at the nape of her neck. Her temperament was in stark contrast being hot tempered, often being called to heel by Lucifer when he was still around. She had managed to push into Thonar's territory using a set of twin blades to dispatch his forces with ease. That was the predicament he found himself in now, pushing the feisty demon's forces back. He hoped that his second in command could complete the mission he gave her. It would help them get the breathing room necessary to start making an earnest counter attack. As Thonar finished another demon on the ground he began comparing himself to the other generals.
