           Kids(5-12)

We all feared the darkness as little kids. We all turned on our little nightlights and prayed the monsters in our closets and under our beds would stay hidden away once we turned on our nightlights. We'd cry and scream if the power went out. We'd run to the sanctuary of our parent's loving arms due to the fact we saw them as a light, a protector from the dark.

    Teens (13-15)

By the time we become teens we learned that there was no monster in the closet or under the bed but rather instead inside people's heads. We started welcoming the dark and shunning the light. We distance ourselves from the ones whom made us feel so safe. That's when the real horrors and darkness begin for we learned the monsters come from within. We try to get rid of them by slicing our skin or burning our flesh. By drowning our thoughts in whiskey or Bourbon. But the monsters have all evolved. The learned to swim and hide deeper within.

By the age of 16-17

We have more scars then we can ever count and we've drank away our problems one to many times. We are constantly at war with ourselves and we don't want to win any more. We walk to the bathroom lock the door. smile at the thought of finally ending the constant war. We fill the tub grab the blades. along  with the alcohol from our parents stash. We climb into the filled tub and start gashing away at our skin and as we bleed out we keep drinking from the burning alcohol. As our final moments arrive we smile and, for once I finally felt alive.
