"My eyes!" Evie whispered and she observed her self in the mirror. Her eyes ,a once chocolate brown, have now turned to a bright green. Her once round pupil has swapped its self for an oval slit. Her nails became pointed and her senses became heightened. She felt a tingling sensation at the end of her spine. When she turned around, a tail sprouted ever so slowly through her jean pants. Evie turned back around to the mirror. Her ears that were once on the side of her head disappeared and moved toward the top. The ears got pointed and covered in fur. "No. No No No." She chanted. "This is a dream. It's all a dream." She clutched her head. "How could this have happened!" She growled. Evie thought back to when she was in the forest earlier today. She was resting on her favorite rock beside the lake when she felt a prickling tingling sensation on her foot. She thought nothing of it until now. "I'm a freak!" She slid down her wall as tears streamed down her face.

The next morning when Evie woke up she thought it was all a dream... Until she looked in the mirror. "AHHHHH" she screamed. "IT WAS ALL TRUE! It was all real..." Evie then began to get ready for her first day of her last year of school. She tucked her tail in her pants, put a over sized hoodie on and coverd her large furry ears with a hat. She opened her cabinet in her bathroom, pulled out colored contacts and put them in. She walked out and stood by the mirror. You would have never thought she was a freak of nature.

As she was walking into the school building, people were taking off there hoods and hats as they got into the warm air. Evie huffed in annoyance she entered the school with both her hood and hat on. There was only one other kid, a boy, that had both a hoodie and hat on just like her. She paid no attention to it. Evie just kept her head casted downward as she weaved her way through the crowd.

During Evie's first class, her enhanced hearing was extremely annoying. She could hear every pen click, fly buzz, phone call conversation and when the bell rang she thought she would go deaf. 'I need to get out of here I'm going to go crazy' she thought to herself. So after 3rd period she ran outside into the nearby woods. Evie ran straight to her favorite rock. When she got there she ripped off her hoodie and hat, and let her tail out through her pants. She went to the lake, looked at her reflection and took out the contacts. "I'm a monster." She whispered as she cried into the lake.

While Evie was crying, she didn't realize someone was watching her. It was that same boy from school, the one that she payed no attention to. He walked up to her and put a hand on her shoulder. She whipped around. "Your not alone." He said. The boy took off his hoodie and hat reviling wolf ears. His puffy tail popped out of his pants and his eyes were a bright blue. "Your one too? How did we become this way?" Evie whispered. "Yes. And we were chosen. Chosen to start a shifter race."

The shifter race is mow one of the largest races in the world. They evolved to fit in with humans. The tails and ears that were once on their head permanently, only appear on command. From the day Evie and the boy named Jackson met, they started a life together. There was also another 4 shifters like Evie and Jackson scattered across the world. Evie gave birth to a total of 20 children and each one fell in love with one of the children of the other 4 original shifters. The family grew and grew for centuries and decades but only the same species could breed with the same species. Then a prophecy was made. The chosen shifter shall fall in love with another breed of shifter to starts a brand new hybrid race. The chosen shifter was undiscovered, until now.
