Nash and I fought. We fought a lot lately. This wasn’t a usual occurrence though. We have been dating for a year and a half and these ‘arguments’ I guess you could call them had started about two months ago. Tonight was different though. Tonight we got into a bigger argument than usual. This time the argument meant something. It wasn’t one of those little arguments people get into about cancelling plans or ignoring texts, this time it was serious.

“Kendall, where the hell do you think you’re going at this time of the night?” Nash yells as I pick my bag up off the kitchen counter. “I’m going to a hotel. I’m not fucking staying here with a cheater. A fucking cheater!” I scream. A whole year and a half gone down the drain because Nash had to sleep with another girl. Nash couldn’t wait until I got back from my trip that was a week long. Because of Nash we are standing here having this argument.

“Just please sleep here and we can talk in the morning. I’ll take the couch and you can have my bed. Please just don’t go now.” Nash begged in a calmer tone. “No.” I say not letting my eyes look into his. “I’m leaving now.” “Wait!” He grabs my arm causing me to tense up. “What?” I spit. “How long are you staying in LA for?” He asks concerned about how much time he has to come up with an apology. “Doesn’t matter because I’m not talking to you ever again.” I shout slamming the apartment door and getting out of there as fast as possible.

I usually sleep at Nash’s whenever I visit him in LA, but clearly I wasn’t doing that tonight. I know LA enough to know there’s a hotel not too far from here. I begin walking until I notice a couple of drops of rain hit my cheek. The dark blue night sky would soon be filled with dark rain clouds. There was a short cut to the hotel down a back lane. Walking alone at night down a back lane is never a good idea, but I was desperate and it’s not too long if I run.

I begin walking at a faster pace, preparing myself for anything when a few garage doors ahead of me two headlights light up, blinding my vision slightly. I contemplated on turning around and just taking the long way, but I was already half way down the alley. I’m probably just overthinking the situation anyways. There could be many reasons why a car was turned on.

I made my way past the car at a noticeably fast speed. Luckily, nothing happened and I could relax. I laughed to myself at how nervous I got over nothing. Not even a minute later the car that was now behind me started. I look back to see the car coming my way. I wasn’t nervous until it slowed down right behind me and followed me. I immediately sprinted down the back alley, but the car’s speed just picked up. My heart began racing as tears spilled from my eyes in fear. The car stopped beside me as the window slowly rolled down. I immediately prepared myself for anything and everything that could happen right now.

“Excuse me ma’am, you wouldn’t happen to have a smoke on you, would you?” A voice of a man asks. “N-no. I do-don’t.” I stutter quietly hard enough for even me to hear. “No problem.” The voice said before driving off.

I wiped my tears and quickly got out of the alley and made my way to the closest hotel. Only five minutes later I arrived at the closest hotel possible. It wasn’t anything too high-class, but it didn’t matter because I was getting on a plane tomorrow and heading home.

“Room for one.” I say to the man at the front desk. “Your room is 405. Here is your key.” He says passing me two room keys. I stopped in the lobby to quickly call my mom before I forget. She didn’t answer so I left a voicemail.

“Hey mom it’s Kendall. I know I’m not supposed to be home until next week, but…” I pause for a second. “But long story I’ll explain tomorrow. I’m just calling to tell you I’ll be home tomorrow.”

I then went to the elevator. I pressed the button and waited in the empty lobby. I guess nobody’s up at 1:30 am. Finally the door opens and just as it closes a man stops it. “Almost missed the elevator.” He jokes. The man gestures to press a floor, but stops when his floor button was already pushed. “Long night?” The man asks and I nod. I look up at him and immediately panic when I realize who it is. The man quietly chuckles when he realizes I know who he is.  I get my phone out and begin to call the one and only person I need right now.

Nash didn’t answer so I leave him a voicemail. “Nash it’s an emergency I’m in trouble.” I cry over the phone. “Nash he’s back.” Was the last thing I said before the elevator doors open and everything goes black.
