As soon as I hear Sarah's heavy breathing slow down to a steady pace, I know that she is asleep. I push off the covers and slowly creep out if our bedroom. As I descend the stairs the old boards creak. I hope no one hears me. As I enter the living room I creep over to the corner where the beat up sofa is. I slide it over, cringing at the noise it makes. After a minute of silence I am sure no one heard me. I look down to where the sofa used to be. I run my fingers over the cool flooring and find the loose floorboard that she told me would be there. I yank it upwards and grab the device and earpiece. Then after fixing the sofa I run out the door.
Within minutes I am in the forest and racing towards the waterfall. She doesn't like it when I'm late.
