Harry’s life is not the way he’d like. His father wants him to take over his family business, his mother keeps trying to set him up on dates with girls, and his sister barely gives him the time of day. Harry doesn’t want to be part of any of that, all he really wants to do is make his infamous flower crowns and be happy. And maybe his wish will come true when he meets a certain punk boy who goes by the name of Louis Tomlinson.
…….
“You can probably start working next year when you’re eighteen as an intern. I can get Nathan to help you learn the ropes and everything. It’ll be great! And by the time you’re twenty-two, you should be able to run the whole business by yourself!”
Harry sat with one leg over the other as he listened to his father go on and on about how he could run the family business one day. Even though he really didn’t want to listen to this, Harry sat patiently and quietly as he listened to his father’s words. Harry wasn’t going to interrupt—that would be rude.
“. . . And then we can go shopping for suits, because I doubt you have any. Maybe we should go this weekend? I can take you to the staff meeting we’re having on Monday . . .” Harry groans internally but Harry keeps his mouth shut and his noises quiet.
“I’d have to get you ties and dress shoes because you really don’t own anything business like. Maybe we should just go now? Maybe we should. What do you think son?” Robin finally turned to Harry who smiled at him.
“Um, I don’t think so,” Harry coughed, “I have a test on Wednesday and I really want to get a good mark. Can I please go and study now? Please?” Harry asked politely. Robin nodded and Harry got up and walked up the stairs.
After adjusting his pink flower crown so it was sitting firmly on his head, Harry bent down to gather his books he needed to study from. He then plopped down on his bed and opened his books so he could get to learning.
When his mother called him down for dinner fifteen minutes later, Harry closed his books and walked down the stairs. He smiled at his parents and sister, and frowned on the inside when he received nothing but a curt nod to sit down back.
Maybe I did something wrong. Harry thought to himself. Because you always get what you deserve.
Harry sat down and patiently waited for everyone to put their foods on their plates before he started to serve himself. They all ate silently for a while until Anne—Harry’s mother—spoke up.
“How’s Uni Gem?” She asked as she turned to Gemma who shrugged.
“Good, I guess,” Gemma said simply.
“How’s school Harry?” She then turned to her son who gulped.
Terrible, “It’s fine,” Harry said with a tight smile. Anne, Robin and Gemma nodded, seeming convinced. Harry let out a small sigh of relief. He rarely lied and he hated doing so, and he was pretty sure he was bad at it too. That’s why he was happy that everyone believed his false statement.
As they continued to eat their dinner, Robin rambled about his job and how Harry would be perfect for it, and Harry politely made sounds of agreement, though they were contradicting to his actual thoughts.
I don’t want to do this.
I don’t like business-y people.
I want to do what I like.
I just want to be happy.
