As you sit in the passenger seat of Jakes car all you can think about is how this day has gone by. This day has been perfect to say the least. The morning started out with Jake picking you up at 8 just to take you downtown. When asked why he simply said,
"Why not?"
You sit by the water, in relaxed conversation, admiring the soft ripples created by the gentle breeze and eating the food he packed for the two of you.
It was around 6 pm when the sun started setting and Jake decided it was a good time to take you home.
Time really does pass doesn't it?
Now here you are, in his car. He stares tentatively at the road and you look up enduringly into the fading blue sky. Out of the corner of your eye you see Jake look at you and when he turns back to face the road he wears the most content smile you'd ever seen. There's comfort in his smile. He drives as slow as possible down your street until he inevitably reaches your house. With a sigh, he puts the car in park. You go to grab the door handle and he stops you by putting a hand on your thigh and locking eyes to say,
"I got it."
You relax in your seat as he gets up from his. Your door is opened and you step out unknowingly into Jakes arms. He holds you as if he'll never hold you again.
"Okay listen, there's a few close friends coming over to my house tonight around 8 and I really want to know if you can go." He says while still holding you.
You look up at him with hesitation as he knows anxiety hovers over you even when just talking about things like "parties". He interrupts your gaze to say,
"Mackenzie will be there." You hadn't seen her in the longest time.
"And Danny! He's one of my closest friends and you have yet to meet. He really wants to meet you. Also, I don't want this to be the end of the night. I want to see you again too." He says with a chuckled.
You smile and place your head on his chest again just...thinking about it. Anxiety is always there but, so is he. He makes you feel secure and grounded. He makes sure you're okay even before himself in most situations.
Stepping out of his grasp and starting to walk up the driveway you say,
"I guess I'll see you around 8."
He looks at you very surprised yet happy.
"Tell me why I miss you already!" He yells from across the street.
He tends to say stuff like this a lot but every single time you get chills like the first. You smirk at him as you walk in your house and close the door behind you. He waited to make sure you were safe inside before driving off. You stand around trying to gather your thoughts and stop the butterflies to no avail. That's just something you have to get use to, all because of him.
The clock strikes 7:45 as you begin to get ready. You put on a flowy shirt, light ripped jeans, a pair of pure white converse, and you did your hair. Nothing too special, cute, or particularly fancy. You hop in your car and drive for about 15 minutes, thinking about nothing but seeing Jake again. As you pull up to his house you notice there's only about two extra cars just proving that no "strangers" decided to pop in.
You knock on the door and Mackenzie answers with a bubbly,"Hi!" As soon as she noticed it was you.
You hugged her before even stepping in and then proceeded to catch up since it had been a while.
Someone called her name from the couch so she went to go see what they wanted. As soon as she slid out of view, your eyes when straight forward to where Jake just so happened to be standing. Danny stood beside him. You looked at Danny for a moment to put a 3-D face to the name. Your eyes quickly go back to Jake. Leaning against the counter on his elbows in that black shirt he messily cut the sleeves off of. His jeans worn at the knees and perfectly cuffed above his boots he wore religiously. Your eyes travel up and you notice the most genuine smile flash across his soft face as your eyes meet from across the room.
Jakes P.O.V
I look up and immediately stop my conversation and I feel Danny look at me, confused. She just walked in and I can feel my heart rate increase. I see that top. The white flowy one that falls perfectly off her shoulders. I notice her hair, braids formed by the strands usually falling around her face, wrapped around the sides of her head and joined in the back. I notice every single detail and I can't look away. Even the sight of her glowing skin is breathtaking. She notices me and we share the quickest smile before Mackenzie comes back from the couch to catch up more I guess. I watch the way she talks with such enthusiasm. The words bouncing off her perfect lips. I've never seen someone so beautiful.I notice Danny look at me again, still confused. He followed the path of my eyes with his own and found the source in which I'd given all my attention.
"That's her!?" He says with shock in his voice.
"Yup." I let out with one single breath.
"Jake, wow." He says as he nods looking in her direction.
"Yea, wow." I say with the proudest smile on my face.
"Just, look at her. She's perfect isn't she?"
