"I'm kinda nervous, cause I think all her friends hate me. Because I fell in love with the girl at the rock show She said "what?" and I told her that I didn't know. She's so cool, gonna sneak in through her window Everything's better when she's around."
-blink 182"Hello, beautiful," Lennon said, trotting around the side of the car and opening the door for me.
My heart fluttered as I stepped off the porch, "Hey." I climbed into the passenger seat and waited for her to get into the driver's side.
She shut the door lightly and started the engine, "I realize that it might be too early to introduce you to my friends."
"Is it?"
"Yeah, I think it's supposed to be about three dates. Maybe."
"I don't get out much," I shrugged, "I want to meet them anyways. I just hope I'm not intruding."
She rolls down her window, "It's okay, they were going to blame me anyways." After a minute, she turns the radio on and one of my favorite songs is playing.
You May be Right spills through the speakers and Lennon smiles, "I love this one."
"Same," I say before starting to sing along and when she joins in, I can't help but laugh because she's really just so cute.

Lennon steps out of the car and starts walking to my side. I quickly check my make-up in the visor before snapping it back up. She opens my door and I smile, "Thanks.""Of cour-"
She's interrupted by a gruff man who's found his way next to us, "Ten dollars for parking." I quickly unzip my black clutch and hand a the bill to him. We watch him saunter away, leaving the slight stench of garbage.
I look into my clutch, "Was he homeless?"
Lennon shrugs, "Most likely but there's always that five percent chance that you actually d-"
"Lennon!!" A voice yells from behind us. We both turn to see two people running towards us from across the small lot.
"Hey!" Lennon says as they stop in front of us, breathing heavily. She hugs them briefly before standing back. "Bev, this is Arson and Jessa. Guys, this is," she smiles as if proud, "Beverly."
Arson pushes his dark hair away, reveling tired gray eyes. He then rolls the sleeve of his flannel and sticks out his hand, "We finally meet." I shake his hand, brushing rough calluses. I've hardly paid attention to him through the weeks of school.
Jessa goes for a hug, "It's so good to meet you!" She has large brown eyes and curls the shade of milk chocolate that spill from the sides of a flower crown.
I smile, "Likewise."
We began to walk down the block towards the building, making small talk. "So, Beverly, you like the Indigo Girls?" Jessa asked.
"I'm sure I will. I've hardly ever heard their songs."
"Same," Arson spoke.
Jessa rolls her eyes, "Looks like you both came in hopes of getting laid."
My face gets red, "No, I-I just..."
Lennon smacks her arm. "Relax!" Jessa shrieks. "You know I was kidding."
The Strand is a small venue crowded with ripped jeans and tshirts. A few people have sparks of lgbt pride through out their outfit. We join the line and I watch in guilt as Lennon hands in our tickets in.
We wait for Arson as he flashes his fake ID in the line and I admire how he takes the drinking bracelet with such ease. He looks years older than eighteen, aged with what smells to be cigarettes.
Lennon gives me a smile and leads me to the concert hall where the crowd is lined shoulder to shoulder by the empty stage. I'm over whelmed by the rush of it all, staring at Arson as he goes for drinks. The stage is at the very front and we stand well back, up behind several tiers of people where we can still see but not be too closed in. Jessa announces that she's going to try for a spot up front and starts elbowing her way through the group.
I look back and forth, taking everything in. I feel out of place in the small area. On the sides of the tiers are roped off VIP sections where people talk in seats, waiting for the show to begin. The speaker system is blasting songs from the local radio station and sponsoring the concert. There is little to say and its too loud for conversation anyhow.
Finally, a group of men and women enter with various instruments and begin to play a song. I look at my ticket sub and see that the Shadowboxers are the opening act. They play unfamiliar tunes between speeches about upcoming release dates and how thankful they are to be touring with the Indigo Girls. Arson finds his way back to us and offers strong smelling liquids. Both Lennon and I deny and he falls to the back of the crowd, greedily gulping from the cups.
They play a few covers of songs and I get into the music. The lyrics aren't difficult to follow so I begin singing the words I know and start to feel more comfortable. Shadowboxers leave the stage after telling us we were a great crowd and the spreadsheet system plays again.
Things get deathly quiet and anticipation flows through the room. A woman enters the stage and a few people cheer before realizing its just the band's roadie.
Moments later two women, Amy and Emily, enter the stage and the crowd erupts in applause. I grin with excitment. I'm hardly a fan but my claps are just as enthusiastic. As they tell us they're glad to be here in Providence again, I look to Lennon, warming at the sight of her grin. She look like a child on Christmas mourning.
They begin to play lively rock songs, slow sad ballads, folky duets with beautiful harmonies. Each change instruments several times between folk guitars, electric guitars, banjos and harmonicas. Sometimes Amy sings the lead sometimes Emily, making a marvelous team. They have special guests sing a few songs and cover Bob Dylan's biggest hits.
The night is magical and I scream along with the every one else, not knowing if my words are right or wrong. I use every excuse possible to touch Lennon and she seems to be doing the same. When they call Shadowboxers back on stage to sing with them, I find myself breathing heavily from jumping to the beat.
For their encore, they play a well known song called Galileo. Everyone cheers the audience dances, belting out the words. My cheeks hurt from grinning, throat horse from the screams. Each strum of their guitars plays with my heart, flooding my ears. I stand back and study Lennon as she throws her hands in the air, singing along loudly. She looks absolutely beautiful with her face lit up and eyes shining. She faces me and slows to a stop, mumbling something.
"What?!" I scream.
"I said, 'Can I kiss you?'"
I grin, shout, "Of course!"
And then we kiss.
Gentle and soft with her hands on my shoulders and mine around her waste. I pull her close with closed eyes and taste the spear mint gum on her lips. I break away first and look into her blue eyes with a smile.
