You stare at the boy in front of the classroom. He was the definition of ultimate perfection and his name was Lucas. He was at the top of the class, handsome, good with words, and funny.
You liked him.
So much.
But you couldn't talk to him no matter what you tried. He thought you hated him, whenever he'd talk to you, you'd have a certain attitude evident in the way you spoke. Lucas laughed it off but inside he was pissed at the fact you didn't like him. He saw how you'd smile with other guys and hang with them, but once he popped up in the picture, your whole demeanor changed. Lucas liked you a lot, but it was clear to him you didn't.
The bell rang interrupting you from your thoughts, you quickly gathered your belongings stuffing them in your bag. You would try to talk to Lucas today, and since it was Lunch for the both of you, you were gonna ask if you could spend it with him.
He was still putting his things in his bag when you approached him, "Hi..." You lightly tapped on his shoulder.
He looked up, his expression unreadable. Which scared you.
"Um...Can I speak to you after you're done?" You mentally facepalm, it came out so wrong.
"Oh sure, gimme one sec..." Lucas pouts and slings his bag over his shoulder signaling he's ready. You walk out together.
"So what did you want to speak to me about?" He smiles, and you swear you were going to melt if he didn't stop his shenanigans.
"I...I...just want to get to know you? Like-become friends...?" You squeeze your eyes shut and breathe in, waiting for his answer.
You heard him laugh and you hesitate to open your eyes.
"Are you serious?" He grinned and you bit your lip nodding slowly. You were beginning to regret asking such a stupid question.
Lucas widened his eyes, "I thought you hated me. I'd never imagine you'd want to be friends with me." He pointed at himself, clearly shocked and excited.
"Yeah... I never hated you...I just didn't know how to approach you." Honestly you wanted to be more than friends, but you were gonna have to settle for now.
Lucas smiled again, he did that a lot around you now. You smiled back, timidly, clearly anxious for his answer. It was silent for a bit before he spoke.
"Well, if I'm being honest, I don't want to be friends, Y/N. I would love to be more than just that. If you don't mind..." He grabbed your hand and brought you closer.
And closer.
And even closer.
Almost till your lips touched--
"Ms. L/N please refrain from sleeping on my class, I know calculus is boring, but it's required." Your teacher shakes you awake and you look around you. Lucas still in the front and you in your seat at the back of the class. You groan, realizing that it was just a dream. The feeling was all too real, Lucas doesn't like you and probably never will. You didn't believe you were the prettiest girl and you didn't think you had anything to offer. That's why when he talked to you, you'd shut him out. Maybe one day you'd have the courage to speak to him, but for now you were gonna keep to yourself.
And that's how you would stay, just a girl in the back of class who, daydreams.
