Sienna woke up, looking around her room. Next to her was Rufus, her invisible friend. She stroked the black cocker spaniel's fur, and sighed. Was life just going to fast, or was it just Sienna's mind?
"Sienna! Come down for breakfast!" Her mom called from downstairs of the new apartment Dad had rented. It was only a couple of weeks when they moved in, but yet Sienna thought it was the home she lived in since te start.
Sienna beamed up from her position, and quietly ran down the stairs, trying not to wake up Rufus. He sure loves his sleep, and Sienna didn't want to have the puppy be grumpy once he does wake up. If ever does, of course.
The aroma of dumplings filled the kitchen. Sienna raced to her seat at the dining table, and started to serve herself rice and dumplings. "Xièxiè — thank you mom." She murmured her prayers, and started to munch on the food. Her dad came down from the stairs, and sat down at the table. He picked up his chopsticks, and started to pick up his food.
"Zaoshang hao — good morning." Mom delightfully greeted everyone eating. It was a good day, because its a Saturday! Sienna and Feng decided to meet up at the nearby fountain at the park. They wanted to have a picnic along with Rufus and Xialong, in order to find more invisible friends. Since saying goodbye to Zou and Bai tuzi, and Minka's departure, they needed more members to their team.
"Good morning. Mom, since Gege is working today, can you cook some food for me and Feng's picnic?" Sienna asked, wiping her mouth with a napkin cloth on the table. "Oh, you can ask your father Sienna. I'm actually going out today to do some research at the nearby temple. You know, since there's a new moon, I want to see how they celebrate the new moon!" Mom explained, with food in her mouth.
"Okay, you can do your work of yours Kate," Dad rolled his eyes, joking around. "Well, I will be able to make food for you.. But I'm not sure want you want Sienna." Then, Sienna went mindblank. What are they're going to eat? "Wonton soup and barbecue pork?" She replied to her father, just naming the first Chinese food she was craving at the moment. "Okay! Now, what do we need?" Dad asked, standing up from his chair.
"Your going to need to go to the store for that. I only have cashews left, and English ingredients left." Mom finished her last dumpling, and stood up. She got her work purse, and said, "I have extra money on the counter. You can use that!" And with that, she left.
