Chapter 2
Abelia’s P.O.V
I got David to go to the clinic and I had to wait in the ally with his gun while he got stitched up. I was just waiting when I heard a blade being scraped against a brick wall. I started to freak out a little bit and so I took the gun off safety and I put my back to one of the many huge crates in the ally, cocking David’s gun in preparation to fire when I heard the safe words whispered.
“ Wushi woo” I heard from a small, meek, voice.
“ Jaymee, you scared the shit out of me, you seriously need to …” I started to say when I heard her add the “ Shut The Hell Up” code.
“ Lila Poo,” she said with a stern look, and she tilted her head as if to say “look over there.” I turned my head to see Jacob following behind her and quickly tried to think of some way to escape. When I looked up I saw a latter ten feet above my head. Quickly and desperately I looked for something to get us up there. By the time I found a few empty crates he was only about 5 feet away and I had to act fast, so since Jaymee was closer, I motioned for her to get up the ladder. When he realized what was going on and ran into the alley, at this point, Jaymee was only about 3 rungs up the ladder when he charged at me.
All of a sudden the whole world was in slow motion and I grabbed a wooden plank, dropping and completely forgetting about the gun. I swung, putting all my might into it and missed by about a foot. He ran at me and punched my head so hard I hit the wall. I felt a warm and sticky liquid run down the side of my head and my vision blacked out while I remembered why I was doing this. I stood up and grabbed the plank again and threw it like a knife right at his groin and he doubled over, giving me enough time to stand, fall, stand again, and climb out of his reach and make it to the top of the first latter. That’s when I realized how stupid I was: I left David’s gun down there. I decided to leave it and continue heading up.
That was a big mistake. Jacob grabbed David’s gun and shot it, almost hitting Jaymee but I was practically on top of her. Since we were climbing like crazy it only skimmed the heal of my foot, but it hurt like hell so I got Jaymee to keep going and tried to go faster. I could feel a warm liquid inside of my shoe and start to puddle. I decided I should go to the clinic also but I couldn’t give up now. We had a great escape ahead of us so I continued to climb up the ladder and ignore my foot that hurt so bad that I ended up crying without realizing this. I started to loose my grip and black out about 10 rungs from the top of the 50ft building we were climbing up, but I knew I had to keep climbing. I did until I reached the top and collapsed next to where Jaymee was sitting.
The last thing I remember is her looking at me and freaking and then a bright flash.
