Double sided reflection [on Pause]

Chapter one - a strange encounter

June 23rd, on a beautiful sunny day.

A young girl with long curly hair stepped out of the house. "Viola are you sure you don't wanna come?" Her mother asked worriedly. "Don't worry I'll be fiiiine~ just go on and have fun. I'll call if I need anything anyway" she said happily. Her father gave her a big hug "Take care of yourself and don't sleep too late" "Don't worry dad" she chuckled. Her mother gently kissed her forehead and hugged her before giving her a list of things to do.Viola sighed. "Mother, she will be fine." Her older brother commented. He ruffled her hair "we'll miss you plumb head".The young girl let out a long sigh. "I'm not a plumb!" "Yes, yes" he chuckled while getting inside the vehicle. After saying their goodbyes, the Silvermoon family had finally left. Viola rushed inside the house and locked the doors. She ran upstairs to her room and opened her window. "Finally alone" she said happily. She observed the forest for a second, then she decided to go take a look. She grabbed a sweater and a pair of boots then went outside the house. Her dog followed her outside. "Kimbo Don't run off without me, okay?"

Inside the forest, Viola could hear many birds sing. 'This is a magnificent place' she thought to herself. Suddenly, Kimbo barked and started running really fast. "WAIT! KIMBO!! I told you not to run off!!!" She cried. When the young girl had finally managed to catch up with the dog, Kimbo kept barking.It looked like he wanted to show her something. "What is it?" She asked trying to catch her breath. She turned to the direction the animal was looking and saw a weird object. It looked like a wooden box or a door covered in plants and grass. She approached it and laid her hand on it. "What is this?" She murmured before putting her other hand in her pocket and grabbing a small pocket knife. She hesitated a little but decided it would be interesting to discover what it is, so she cut the thick roots and the odd plants covering the wood.

After having cut most of the plants, Viola could finally see what it is. A wooden door. "Why is there a door shoved on the ground in the middle of a forest?" She asked out loud. She thought the door was just some old trash left in the woods but something told her that she should try to pick it up. She held the handle and pulled with all her strength but it was no good. "Why am I even wasting my time with this? Let's go Kimbo." She said as she started making her way out of the forest. Kimbo stayed for a minute and stared at the door. "Kimboo~" The dog ran back to his master.

Later that night, Viola was peacefully reading a book on her bed while her pet slept in his own. She checked the time; 10:34 pm. 'I should probably go to sleep..' the moment she got in the covers and turned off the light, she heard a huge noise coming from the forest. "The hell?" She looked out the window. There was nothing. Kimbo woke up "let's go check it out" she said bravely. She grabbed her sweater and flashlight and stepped out of the house with her dog. The walk was scary but Viola was so curious about the noise that she couldn't care less. She had to know.

They then arrived at the same place where the door was found. Kimbo got closer to the door and sniffed it. Out of nowhere, the door started banging really loudly like it was being hit by a person who was trapped inside. Viola jumped back as the animal stood in front of his master to take her defensive. The banging on the door got louder and louder as well as faster.

BOOM!

The door snapped open and many lights came rushing out like fireworks. Viola tumbled backwards "what is this!?" The lights flashed brightly for a brief moment and then disappeared. Viola sat there in shock. When she finally got the courage to stand up and see what is behind the door, she found a large mirror stuck to the ground. Kimbo leaned  next to her to see what was there and Viola gasped. She could only see her dog's reflection. The girl leaned in closer but it made no difference. Slowly, she touched the mirror which immediately turned into a watery substance. She was about to put her hand inside when a black shadow rushed out of the mirror. Kimbo kept barking at the shadow and Viola turned to it. The only thing she could see was the shadow's glowing golden eyes. What happened next was pitch black in Viola's mind..

the next morning she woke up in her bed. "Was it a dream?" She took off the covers and found herself wearing the sweater she took with her last night and her flashlight on the floor near her feet. "There's no way that was a dream..it felt too real.." she mumbled. The confused girl decided it was best to think about it after breakfast so she went down the stairs and made herself some food. Before sitting down to eat, she turned on the Tv. A news reporter was talking about the unusual lights soaring across the sky last night. "There's also been many reports of people being attacked by strange creatures but never remembering how or what exactly attacked them. Some people think it might have to do with the strange lights since the whole country saw them. But it all remains a mystery. Other residents believe the lights were only shooting stars and people are hallucinating and being paranoid" the reporter said. Viola dropped her fork as she looked at the pictures of the lights on the screen. "It wasn't a dream..."

The brown haired female quickly ate her food and rushed out of the house with Kimbo. She ran to the place where the door was. It was open. And when she leaned in to see what was inside, there was the mirror but still no reflection. "Why don't i have a reflection?"

Kimbo started barking at a tree "what is it Kimbo?" She asked walking towards the tree. As soon as she looked up a large figure jumped on her, pinning her to the ground. The figure was a really tall man with very long bushy black hair and wolf ears. His golden eyes pierced through her purple ones. She was terrified. Kimbo kept barking at him but the man shut him up simply by glaring at him. "Who are you and what are you doing here?" His deep menacing voice asked. "I-I.." the boy let go of her but kept glaring waiting for her response. Viola took a deep breath and started "My name is Viola Silvermoon and I live near this forest. Now who are you and what are you doing here?" She asked bravely. "Hunter." He responded. "You're here because of hunters?" She asked tilting her head. He shook his head "my name is Hunter" "okay...and what are you doing here?" He sat in front of the door and looked confused. The girl was even more confused. "Where do you come from?" She asked looking a bit concerned. Hunter pointed at the door. "I was dragged into a mirror and I came out of here" they both leaned in to see the mirror but neither of them had a reflection. "So you don't know why you got here huh..." he shook his head.

Viola noticed he had a tail and ears. "Are those real?" She asked reaching for his unusual ears. His ear twitched and out of reflex, he pushed the girl away, causing her to fall in the mirror while dragging him with her. Kimbo ran to the entrance barking. He jumped on the mirror thinking he would be able to pass through as well but only ended up crashing.Thankfully the mirror was unharmed but he was sad. He climbed up the hole sulking and waited for his master near the door.
