Griffin's P.O.V.
"So, Lelia," I said while we were eating dinner. "Why'd you transfer to the MPs?"
I knew the answer, but I wanted to see if the drug was wearing off.
"Because it's so much safer than the Scouts," she replied.
Still working. But she'll need another injection soon.
Anger smoldered in her gray eyes.
"Hello!" Lieutenant Dreschner sat down at the table. "Did you have a good day?"
"Yes, sir," Lelia said through clenched teeth.
Oh this is not good. It's wearing off faster than I thought.
"You sound angry. Is something wrong?"
"No, sir."
It's almost completely worn off.
"Griffin, why don't you calm Lelia down?" the lieutenant said.
"Yes, sir," I grabbed a vial of the drug out of my back. Pushing up her left sleeve, I injected it into her forearm. She promptly fell asleep.
I wiped my hands on my pants to get rid of the sweat.
"She's so cute when sleeping," I said quietly.
"Griffin, could you take her to her room?"
"Yes, sir," I lifted her into my arms and walked down the hall to her room. She didn't stir.
"She really looks like her."
Flashback:
Fourteen-year-old me ran down the streets of Shiganshina.
"Hurry up, Emi!" I called behind me. "We're almost there."
"I'm going as fast as I can!" she yelled back.
The wall had just been damaged. Titans were flooding in.
Thunderous footsteps shook the ground as a titan approached. Emi tripped and fell.
"Emi!" I yelled in horror as the titan picked her up. It opened its giant mouth and swallowed her whole. I screamed and staggered back. This isn't really happening, right? I didn't just lose my best friend.
The titan lumbered towards me and I bolted. The evacuation boats were not that far away.
End Flashback
I shuttered as I remembered that painful memory.
"Snap out of it," I muttered. "You need to let go of the past."
I gently sat Lelia down on her bed.
Her long black hair fell into her face. I bent over to sweep it out of her face when she muttered a single name.
Levi.
Eren's P.O.V.
I felt terrible. I hadn't been able to get any sleep since Lelia had been taken. Even the captain looked more tired than usual.
"Eren, did you get any sleep?" Mikasa asked.
"Yeah," I lied.
Her eyes narrowed. "Are you telling the truth?"
"Yeah."
"You really should get ready for the mission. We leave in a few days."
"Okay."
"Are you even listening to me?"
"I hear you talking."
She muttered something under her breath and walked away.
Levi's P.O.V.
I studied the mission plans. It wasn't the best plan, but it was all we had.
"This seems...risky," an officer said. "The Military Police already hate us."
"You're dismissed," I replied.
The officer silently stood up and left.
"Any other objections?" I asked.
No one answered.
"Good."
All the soldiers looked fairly uneasy, except for Jaeger, Ackerman, and Arlert. They looked determined. Jaeger, however, had large dark circles under his eyes.
"The operation will commence in two days," Erwin said. "You are dismissed."
"Everyone stood up and shuffled out of the room.
Lelia's P.O.V.
"Ugh," I groaned. My head was killing me. I looked at my arm and saw another blue circle. Sunlight filtered through the window and someone knocked on the door.
"Come in," I said.
My father walked in with a huge smile on his face.
"Guess what, sweetie?" he asked, his voice just as excited as his face.
"What?"
"I just finalized the plans for your wedding. He finally agreed."
