Zoe's POV

Well. This is just great. Mom's dead and now I have to live with a guy who's probably really famous and stuck up. His name's Josh Groban and he's a famous singer. So now I have to live with him cause he's my dad. He never knew about me. Mom never let him. I wanted him to but it's not like I can just go to one of his concerts and yell out, "Hey, Josh! I'm your kid from high school!" He'd think I was crazy.

"Hi. Josh Groban." At the sound of his name I look over and see him. He seems kind of nice. "I'm looking for Zoe Blackwater?" He asks. The nurse looks up and points at me. "Thank you," He says and starts to walk over. "Hey, kid." I look up at him and pull out my earbuds.

"Uh. Hi, Josh." He smiles and holds out his hand. I look at it then decide to take it. I don't want to seem rude. We get up and start walking.

"So, um, what were you listening to?" He asks. I smile and pull up Spotify.

He sees the album cover and turns pink. I'm listening to his new album Bridges. The song "River" was playing when he walked in. "I've been getting to know your music. I have to say, your pretty good." He smiles and nods.

"Thanks," He says, looking over at me. "So, do you sing, or do anything musical."

"I play the violin and taught myself the piano but I've never sang. Mom never let me." He frowns as if wondering why. "She said that I reminded her too much of you when I sang and she didn't want me to sing anymore." He frowns even more. "That was when I was nine."

"That's awful," He says. I shrug, trying not to give the wrong impression.

"It's fine, really. I would really love to act, but, once again, Mom never let me," I say. He opens the car door and I get inside.

"Well, that's going to change." I look at him and tilt my head.

"How so?" I ask him. I mean, it's not like I'm gonna get acting and singing lessons.

"We're gonna get you lessons," he states, proudly. Wow. That's exactly what I said I wasn't going to do. "We're gonna start with singing. See what you sound like and what you can do. Then, we'll go to acting lessons. See how well you can act. If that's good, I may just get you an agent."

"Really?" I ask. "You would do that for me?" He nods. "You don't even know me!" I exclaim, already getting excited for my new life.

"I can see a lot of me in you. And a lot of your mother, too. I can tell you'll be worth it." I smile and jump in my seat. "Woah, settle down there, Zoe! We can't have you being too exhausted before we get home, now can we?"

"No," I reply. I put one earbud back in and hit play. I have to say that River is probably my favorite song so far. The way it describes how I feel every time I look in the mirror or hear someone say something I just want to walk away from them and be with people who understand me.

Time skip to the house brought to you by J2

By the time we arrive at his house, I've listened to his whole album and let me just say, IT'S AMAZING! He's a great singer. We'll just see how well of a dad he can be. "We're here, Zoe," Josh says. I look out the window and see a normal sized house. Nothing unusual. I guess he's not the stuck up character I thought he would be.

We walk inside and it's nothing special. It's just a house. Granted, it probably won't feel like home to me for a while, but whatever. It's nice and homey. "So, uh, I cleared out the guest room before I got you today. I didn't know what you would like so tomorrow we're gonna go shopping for room stuff, okay?" I nod and he smiles. "Good. So your room is right this way. The bathrooms just across the hall and if you need anything, my room is at the end of the hall," he says, and leaves me to myself inside my new room in a new house. Oh, this is going to be interesting living with Josh Groban.
