Harry thought back to the day he fell in love with the Tess Morgan from earth two. He knew the story was different on this earth, but he remembered dancing with that same girl stepping on her toes, her stepping on his.

December 19, 1979, Earth Two

The two were young and intelligent top of the class honour roll students, coming first in speeches and robotic competitions. They were one year apart but though in an advanced school they still skipped a few grades, they had almost the same course selections. Tess was 14 and in first year university while Harry (but at the time Harrison Wells the one and only) was 15 and in year two, but the two were rivals, the top brains in the school always competing. They hated each other because they were the only competition when it came to the schools greatest mind.

"I hate him, he's so arrogant that he can't admit I'm smarter!" Tess was talking to a friend in the girls washroom "I've beaten him in every robotics competition this year! And still!"

"I hate her, I've beaten her in every math contest this year! And yet she still assumes she's smarter!" Harrison was talking to his buddy in the hallway.

Tess leaves the washroom and bumps into Harrison, they just glare as they walk by. They also notice there's a new competition for Science and business and of course they both sign up. The two believe this will settle the competition, and they immediately get to work.

Tess went to her dorm and called home to get her fathers input on the contest knowing how much he loved science. When she called it rang a few times then went to voicemail, "weird" she thought because her father always picked up the phone. A few minutes later she got a phone call, she checked and saw it was her dads number so she picked up. "Honey you need to come quick, it's your father he's... he's dead," her mother was the one calling. Immediately she got into her car and drove home. It was about a three hour drive there and another three hours back so she knew she would miss school.

You know what's weird?" Asked Mack Jean a first year and Harrison Wells' best friend. "What is?" Harrison asked he looked at Harrison and said "well Tess Morgan didn't come to class today," Mack said with a head full of thought and even doubt. "What's so weird about that?" Wells asked though he knew full well what the answer was, "Har she never missed a day," Mack said kinda concerned. "So?" Harrison asked him then continued "she probably's sad that she's gonna loose the science business competition," he said smiling. Mack looked up "I don't know, everyone in first year thinks she's dead," after that the two just walked silently.

The next day Tess came but she was late to every class. She had big bags under her eyes, her hair was a mess and she didn't say a word. "Woah Har, you were right, it probably was because of the competition, she even forfeited! But she's a mess, you need to fix this or else everyone will hate you for breaking little Tess Morgan," Mack said as he paid for his and Harrisons cup of coffee. "I don't see why I need to, it's not my problem," Wells said with a shrug, Mack just looked at him intensely. The two were quiet for a while, "Har..." Mack finally said "please, it ruins my reputation too," Harrison laughed surprised "oh- oh so that's why you want me to be nice to her," Mack frowned "Har please," he said. Harrison took a big sip of his coffee and said "whatever you need Jean, but you owe me Big Belly Burger!" Mack laughed "deal," he said, then the two happily continued their meal.

Tess just sat at her desk her dorm a mess staring at the wall when Harrison Wells knocked at the door "Morgan, open up!" He said as he impatiently waited. Tess got up and dragged herself to the door and slowly opened it. "ThehelldoyouwantWells?" She said stinking up the air with the smell of beer. "Morgan! Your drunk!" Harrison said as he helped her to sit on the bed and then grabbed a chair for himself. "Yeah, hehe, Ifeelfunny," she said looking around the room. "Tess... what happened to you?" Wells said so concerned. "What happened to you, being sonice to me allofasudden, did thegreat HarrisonWellsgosoft?" She asked jokingly, Wells didn't laugh, "what happened?" He asked. "Welpforstaters my daddied," Tess said, then she gestured her fingers into two feet in her leg and made them fall, as she continued "then Iwatchedmymom go wooooooo downthe building, thought I bestforget it," she shrugged "but I can't," she frowned. "Oh my god, Morgan..." Wells couldn't say anything. "Aw don't feel bad, I'mfine Ithinkbut youcsnbethesmartestnow," She said looking away almost about to cry. "No... no no, I am going to fix you, and let's start by making sure you sleep," he pulled the blanket over her, and turned off the lights, as he was about to leave she cried "wait... I'mscared," so without a word he turned on the light and sat in the chair and watched her sleep.

Tess woke up the next morning with a headache, but then she looked around and noticed her dorm was clean and Harrison Wells had left. It was already the afternoon, she rushed to get ready before realizing it was Saturday. She quickly put on some clothes and decided to go for some morning coffee. She opened the door to see standing outside Harrison Wells. "Well well well, look who finally decided to wake up," he said with a smile. "You're so loud," she said look at the floor. "Yeah yeah, c'mon we need to talk," he gave her a coffee.

"You know everyone blames me for you breaking," Harrison said to Tess as the walked down the street. "My condolences," she sarcastically said, "I'm serious, so now I have to fix you so that I don't ruin Mack's reputation," he laughed. "Hm?" She looked at him "and how are you gonna do that?"
"Well first I'm quitting the science business competition," he said confidently. "What will that accomplish," she asked "reputation," he smiled. They talked all evening Tess promised to stop drinking and to get her school act together, Wells promised to do a daily check up on her to make sure she gets better.

"Question, how did you get your hands on all that beer?" Harrison asked as the last part of that days check up, "oh, my mother left the case on the counter and I just took it," she admitted. "Oh," Wells thought out loud.

A few week later

"I think I'm good enough to go on without your help," Tess said extending her hand "thank you," Wells shook her hand "pleasure doing business with you Morgan," the two laughed. They turned around to go their own separate ways, "Until next time... rival,"

They went back to competing, and few years later Harrison Wells graduated, then Tess Morgan graduated. They went their separate ways, figuring the right path for their lives.
