p r e s e n t d a y.The marble columns towered over the hundred shelves down below in the library. Murals of paintings from the Renaissance hung above on the ceiling with gold plaited lights dangling off from each curve. The place resembled that of a museum or an old palace from the 16th century, and as of now royal blue carpeting remained a common design for regal libraries.
A group of eight avid students dropped their bags beside the table legs and brought out their laptops and notebooks. The study room was fairly quiet with only a small radio playing a song from 2008 and the rumbling of the air conditioner. A project on the British Empire and the reign of Queen Victoria was to be due in the next two weeks, and so the girls decided that looking for books here and studying before dinner after school would be a good idea.
Lee (Y/N) stood up from her seat and made her way through the maze of giant bookshelves, twisting and turning to find the history section of 16th to early 18th century books. Dynasties after dynasties were shown when she walked past the rows. She spotted several textbooks based on old British history and reached out to get them, but a chestnut brown leather book caught her sight and as she brought it down two capital 'G's were printed in gold at the front. The pages were tan with cursive handwriting inside the cover, stating the date in which the book had been made.
(Y/N) wondered why someone would leave such an expensive journal amidst a sea of ordinary books in an old library. So she returned to her study group while carrying a few textbooks and the strange journal and started to flick through the printed pages with her friends. Slipping the journal into her bag she made her way to the librarian after their session ended and asked him if she was allowed to keep it for some time. He replied back from his elevated desk, saying that it did not belong to the library and suggested that she could search for the owner by finding a name inside.
When (Y/N) returned home she began to speculate the journal further until she came across a hidden note on the inside of the front cover. A handwritten one; it said that whoever was to find the journal in the future should reply back to each letter in the last pages. She then picked up a ballpoint pen and began to read the first diary entry, or letter as the note said, and take in the words of the owner.
