"... some might say it's a Christmas miracle! No snow for Christmas in northern New Hampshire is a once in a lifetime event!" Said the weatherman. I was mortified as my parents cheered. Oh, my name is Lillian. I'm 11 and I live in northern New Hampshire.
"This has to be some kind of early Christmas present from god!" Said my father as he looked at our old box television.
"I know! Dave, this means you won't have to work as much!" My mother yelled as she kissed my father.
Disgusted, I looked away. I was still in shock that there wasn't going to be any snow for Christmas. Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without snow!
"Mom, dad. Are you out of your minds!?" I question- Yelled.
My parents looked at me as if I had just dropped a live grenade on my dog, Bailey.
"Lil, what are you talking about? It's going to be so great not having snow! We're finally going to be able to have Christmas outside!" My father said to me.
"But Christmas can't be Christmas without snow!" I yelled back at them. I was so angry.
"Lil, your father is right. Christmas will be so great without snow!" My mother said.
Mortified and anger boiling my blood cells, I sprinted up the steep staircase to my bedroom. I lived in a very small house and my bedroom is actually the attic. My bed is a queen sized bed and it sits in the corner of my large attic- bedroom. I have Christmas lights decorating the ceiling and a flatscreen tv. It's better than the one we have downstairs. I also have a velvet rug that I always trip on. I plopped onto my bed and put my face down on my pillow. I flipped around to lay on my back and looked up at my skylight.
"Lil! Dinners ready!" My mother yelled up the stairs.
"I'm not hungry!" I yelled back. My blood was still hot. I jut couldn't face them yet. I wasn't ready. I rummaged through my bedside table drawer and pulled out a fresh bag of potato chips. I opened the loud plastic bag and began to devour the chips in anger. I picked up my phone and saw that Lizzie, my best friend had texted me about the snow. She was so happy about it. I slammed my phone back down on the table as i put another chip in my mouth. I couldn't believe how many people were so happy about the no- snow Christmas.
"Lillian Ann Holmes! Get down here and eat your supper!" My father called up the stairs.
"Ugh!" I Yelled as I stood up. I reluctantly walked down the steep staircase and sat down at the table.
"We're having calamari tonight lil," My mother said.
I picked up a piece of it and put it into my mouth. It was good, but I really wasnt in the mood to eat. Although if I didn't eat, my parents would force me to.
'Okay it's December 20th. We don't have school until January 3rd because of New Years and Christmas.' I thought to myself. I needed to do something about the snow, but I only had five days. I hope I can make it happen, because Christmas would never be the same without snow!
