An appointment

         first week

I have to go to the cardiologists today. My anxiety is getting worse, my heart will suddenly start beating, and in public I'll just have a random panic attack.

The cardiologist is a certain Kim Jaejoong. He's from South Korea.

Yes, I listen to K-POP, especially BTS and Super Junior. But I must admit,  that second generation K-POP was slightly better, and if it wasn't for them all these new groups wouldn't even exist!

I ponder on what to wear, my mum always pushing me to "DRESS WELL TO GO TO THE DOCTOR'S" like it's my graduation, tf mum?

But my problem is, everytime I go somewhere, (even if it's to take out the bins) I always have to be nicely dressed. If not, I'll just feel fucking ugly. (Well, I already am, but a bomb outfit makes anyone look good, amirite?)

I decide to put on a pair of Vans, a black leather jacket (bisexual culture) a random tank top, and ta-da! Black ripped jeans. To complete the emo outfit, I stick my twenty one pilots pin on my jacket. (i love that band).

"Come on, we're late," my mum shouts from her bedroom.

I look in the mirror, shoot, I'm only one eyebrow in.

"Wait I need to find my other shoe!" I say, frantically doing the other brow as best as I can, and at the same time scrunching up my red curls.

"You don't need to shout, I'm right next to you"

I wasn't even shouting but okay.

The other eyebrow done, I check my pulse, placing my hand on my neck and collarbone. okay, it hasn't gone haywire yet.

I look at myself once again before going to pee. My chocolate eyes are full of fear, my burgundy hair (dyed of course) wasn't fiery like normal. Even my tanned complexion is starting to look pale. oh who cares. I do my business and go downstairs.

" You took a long time, I've been down here for ages" Mum complains, looking pretty annoyed.

"YoU tOoK a lOng tiME, iVe BeEn dOwn HEre for AgeS" I mimic in my head.

[...]

We're in the waiting room, my heart rate has shot up the past ten minutes, especially because I'm next in bloody line. There is only one patient after me, we booked a late appointment because it's summer (6 PM).

The door next to me opens, I'm actually facing it. It's my first time with this doctor, this one is for adults. (le sigh, I'm 18).

"Hera Vahlia?" a voice asks. I look up, it's the doctor.

I stand up, and my mum does too, but he stops her.

"I prefer to see my patients individually,  madam, would you mind waiting outside?" he suddenly asks in a gentle voice.

My heart drops, shit. Why is that? Dark flashbacks of my past start flowing on my head. Is he going to try something or?

"Oh it's fine, Hera, I'll be at Tesco's, uh doc, how long will the appointment take?"

"About 30 minutes, the time I diagnose her. Don't worry, go and run your errands, I'll take care of her." he replies.

I tense at the "I'll take care of her". I love and fear men at the same time. Sucks to be me!

"Right, don't go wandering off after, meet me there, need to pick up those pads!"

I feel myself blushing, and facepalm, but Dr Kim just laughs it off.
