Of a peak I’ve heard a mountain stood
who did dare kiss the sky
From head and cap to base and root
did none come so close as high.
In endless winter she is lost
Shivers in some biting cold
Hidden under snow and frost
Who should be so bold.
Her mountain air steals all breath away
Her ice-walls built too steep
For her again I fall each day
Far down this gorge so deep.
Make the climb; closer to Heaven i will be
If from her avalanches I could flee.
