She was rushed into the hospital. She had no clue what was going on. She looked up to see a doctor looking at her. He had to be around her age, 25. She had to admit he was pretty good looking but she wasn't focused on that.
"Oh good! You woke up. My name is Doctor Bryant. You should be ready to leave by tomorrow." Doctor Bryant said
"May I ask what has happened?" She asked
"Macy you have been in a terrible car crash. You were lucky, only a few broken bones and a minor concussion. The other person wasn't as lucky. He died within five minutes of the crash." Doctor Bryant informed her.
"Oh my god! I had my baby cousin in the car, is she okay?" Macy asked
"There was no baby found in the car, just an empty car seat." Doctor Bryant said confused.
"Oh my god! If Gracie isn't here then where is she?" Macy said in a panic
"How old was she? I will call the police right away." Doctor Bryant asked
"She was only a year old!" Macy said crying.
"Macy I can assure you everything will be okay." Doctor Bryant said.
"This can't be happening. No not today. Today is her birthday." Macy panicked
"Macy calm down. It will be okay. The police are already looking for clues for what might have happened. But you need some sleep so I will leave you be." Doctor Bryant said walking out of the room.
Macy sat there staring at the blank ceiling for quite some time before finally falling asleep. The next day she woke up to Doctor Bryant sitting by her.
"Morning Macy. Do you have anyone to drive you home today?" Doctor Bryant said
"Ugh no. My sister and her husband died two days after Gracie was born and my parents are in rehabilitation. The rest of my family lives in the United Kingdom." Macy said sighing.
"No boyfriend or husband?" Doctor Bryant asked
"No and I can't call a friend since my phone was in the car and I can not remember any of my friends numbers." Macy replied
"Well I actually do not have to work today, I just wanted to make sure you were okay. How about I take you to your house to change, then we go get you a new phone and get some lunch?" Doctor Bryant said smiling
"I would love that. Thank you so much Doctor Bryant." Macy said
"Don't call me Doctor Bryant since you won't be in the hospital anymore. Call me Tony. Oh and we can stop by the police station to check in on any new information about Gracie. They asked for a picture last night and I told them I would bring you by today." Tony said
"Okay that sounds like a plan." Macy said
Soon enough they were getting into Tony's car. Macy told him the directions to her house and within no time they arrived. Macy ran upstairs changed and grabbed a picture of Gracie. She also grabbed the cash she had saved up.
"Ready to go?" Tony asked
"Yeah let's go." Macy said.
They drove in silence to the mall and went straight to the closest phone store. Macy bought a new iPhone and walked out with Tony.
"Here let me put my number in so you can get a hold of me if you need to. I can drive you places as long as you need." Tony said.
"Tony, you don't have to do that." Macy said
"But I want to." Tony said
Not even within ten minutes of being at the mall Macy ran into a friend.
"Macy I have been trying to text you all night!" Kinsey said
"I got in a crash and lost my phone, car, and most importantly Gracie. I just bought a new phone and Tony has been nice enough to drive me around and help with the Gracie situation." I said hugging Kinsey
"Oh my god! Gracie is missing! That is terrible! Thank you so much Tony for being so helpful." Kinsey said, grabbing my phone.
"It's my pleasure." Tony said
"Sorry Macy to leave but I must be going. I put most of our friends numbers in there and texted them saying what happened. You are just missing Abby and Cruz but you barely talk to them so I don't think that really matters. Bye now!" Kinsey said walking away.
"Well at least you have your friends' numbers back. That's a start. Now lets go get lunch." Tony said
We walked towards the food court to grab some lunch. We grabbed Subway and sat down.
"So you've had Gracie since you're sister died?" Tony asked
"Yes, there was nobody else to take care of her. Our parents have been in rehabilitation for three years now so they couldn't take care of her." I said
"Why do you live here if you're family lives in the United Kingdom?" Tony asked
"My family there is a wreck so my mom, dad, sister and I decided to move here." I replied
"Is there anybody here that has a grudge against you that might've taken Gracie?" Tony asked
"Oh no, I've never done anything to anybody to make them hate me. I couldn't imagine what I could've done to somebody." I said
"Well then this might have just gotten a little harder. I figured it was probably somebody who hates you." Tony said
"I don't know of anybody who does hate me but I guess we will just have to figure this one out." I said
"I guess we will. Now lets go and see what they have found on the case." Tony said
We walked out of the mall and walked to his car. The police station was about 10 minutes away.
"Is there something I can help you with?" The police officer said as we walked in.
"Yes. Last night my baby cousin Gracie was taken when we got into a car crash." I said
"Oh yes. You must be Macy and Tony. My name is Officer Casey. Do you have a picture of Gracie that we could borrow?" Officer Casey asked
"Yes right here." I said giving him the picture.
"Thank you miss. Also we couldn't find any fingerprints on the car so the person must've had gloves on and the door was most likely somewhat open. Is there anybody that might have had a grudge on you?" Officer Casey asked
"No, I couldn't think of anybody that would have a reason to have a grudge against me." I replied.
"Well if we could just have your number so we can call you if we find anything." Officer Casey said
I wrote down my number, said a quick thank you, and walked out with Tony.
