I awoke from my faint sleep to the sound of gun shots and screams. It wasn't anything out of the ordinary, yet it still haunts me day by day. The terrible images of the end hit me every night like a ton of bricks. The way mothers we're running for their lives with their children in arms. The way people were devouring one another, and dropping like flies around us, around me. I lost everyone from the horrendous infection that had overcome our cold cruel world. I was left with only two people from my previous life which was my brother, John, who was only 13. Last but not least my best friend Harry who, luckily, was with me the day the virus struck. Harry is 19 as well as I, but the difference was he can't remember much of how the world was before it all changed. My brother and I lost our mother when the infection struck, and for our father, he left us when John was born and we haven't heard from him since. They are the only people I have left because everything's changed and everyone has too.
