Belgium was a small place. Full of fields and there was plenty of Battlefields. Looking over to Jim, I felt a wave of guilt crash down onto me. This was all my fault. Everything was my fault. But, the Jim sat next to me, was the not the one I was used to seeing. This Jim seemed to be mellow, almost a little too soft. Where had the Soldier gone? The insane psychopath? Oh, that's right. I destroyed him. Everything was my fault. Glancing over once more, I reached across for his hand,
"Calm yourself." Jim said soothingly. Smiling a little, I squeezed his hand,
"But Jim, I can't. His threat, I mean, it hit home hard. I can't ignore it." A small tear escaped and more threatened to fall. Jim raised his free hand, moving it to the corner of my eye; wiping the cascading tear away. Moments like this made me feel warm inside. We hadn't had many since the warehouse incident and Jackson. The traffic had calmed since this morning. Only a few cars passed by, all minding their own business. Mycroft was residing at the British Embassy in Brussels. And apparently, so was Ellie,
"I know. I wish that my Network was still together." He paused, taking a deep breath. "Then all of our problems would be fixed and sorted. Juliet, please. Don't let this man get to your head. For my sake and for Ellie's. She needs you and to be honest, so do I."
"I'm sorry Jim. I really am." I said shakily.
"Don't apologise, please. None of this is your doing." Somehow, his words didn't seem convince me.
BRITISH EMBASSY: BRUSSELS:
Arriving at the Embassy in a mere hour, Jim and I exited the car and entered the grand building. We stopped at the front desk and waited to be given access. From our left, a woman exited the lift. She was a short woman with long, brown hair. Walking up to us, she held out her hand. Jim gave me a sideways glance as I grasped hold of her hand,
"Hello. You must be the Moriarty's." Jim and I nodded in unison. "Well, I'm Lisa, Mycroft's new secretary. I've been ordered to take you up. I suspect that you are little Ellie's mother?"
"Yes. How is she?" I asked sweetly. Lisa smiled and released my hand,
"Ellie? Oh, Ellie's fine. A little trooper, I tell you. Mycroft has defiantly taken a shine to her. Now, if you'll just follow me. We'll go up now." All three of us crammed into the small lift and ascended up to Mycroft's office. Once up there, a feeling of familiarity entered my mind. My life was becoming a little to predictable. Lisa stopped us at a set of oak doors. She knocked three times. A voice called her to enter and within seconds the doors had swung open. On the other side stood Mycroft, holding my shining light of hope; Ellie. As we entered, Ellie's eyes brightened up and smiled over to us,
"Ma." She said loudly. Tears started to fall once more as we moved deeper into the room. Mycroft gently passed the girl over to me and I soon engulfed her with a whole load of love. If it hadn't of been for Jackson, I would've been quite content right here, right now. But that was not to be. Jim placed a hand on the small of my back and kissed the small infant. Why couldn't we be a normal family? Why? Passing Ellie over to Jim, I advanced on Mycroft. His posture looked a little worse for ware, but I wasn't to care. Oh no. He had kept this from me and caused me to get tortured for it,
"Juliet." He said carefully. His voice full of caution and weariness. Mycroft remained me of my uncle in a way,
"Mycroft." I replied shortly. Ice dripping from my tone. Moving closer, I rested my hands on my hips. "I never knew that you had another brother. It came as a bit of a shock when I found out that my kidnapper was a Holmes. Not the nicest of feeling's if I'm being honest. When were you going to tell me?" Taking a long breath, Mycroft rested his palms onto the desk,
