Teen Titans: Let Me Mend Your Heart

Chapter Two: Six Months Later

Nobody had seen much of Raven since she'd broken up with Aqualad.  If it weren't for the Titans' missions, nobody would have seen her at all.  But news of Aqualad breaking Raven's heart spread throughout Jump CIty, and every time anyone saw him, they hissed and booed, and threw rotten food at him.  The villains in particular hated him, because Raven took her heartbreak out on them and launched merciless attacks on them before sending them to jail when the Titans fought them.

And Aqualad kept coming to Titan Island, and asking to see Raven.

"Dude, Raven's never going to get back together with you!" Beast Boy shouted at him on Aqualad's three thousand nine hundred and eighty-second visit.  "She doesn't get over a broken heart easily!  And you broke hers bad!"

"Well if you think you'd be better to her, why don't you ask her out yourself?" demanded Aqualad, his frustration getting the better of him.

"For once, you actually have a good idea!" snarled Beast Boy.  He stormed away into the Tower.  Aqualad was a little worried for a moment, but then relaxed.  "She'll never say yes to the likes of him," he assured himself.

Beast Boy knew that Raven probably wouldn't want to be his girlfriend.  Especially since he'd been dating Terra before.  But the truth was, the week before Aqualad had cheated on Raven, Beast Boy had learned that Terra had used a love potion on him to gain his trust.  Upon this realization, Beast Boy had snuck into Raven's room and stolen a love potion antidote.  When he drank it, his infatuation with Terra was vanquished, and he realized that the one he had truly loved all along was Raven.  And now he had to try to heal her broken heart.

As Beast Boy reached Raven's room, he listened carefully through the door.  Usually Raven could be heard crying softly if one of the Titans listened through the door.  It worried everyone.  But sometimes she was quietly singing songs that expressed her broken heart.  Usually it was a Taylor Swift song.  And as Beast Boy listened through the door, he heard her singing Taylor Swift's "You Should've Said No" song.

Beast Boy hesitated, then knocked on the door.  There was no response, and Raven's quiet singing didn't stop.  She must be listening to her IPod, singing along to that, Beast Boy realized.  He slowly opened Raven's door and stepped inside the room.

Raven was lying on her back on her bed, her eyes closed, singing softly.  Her IPod's earphones were in her ears.

Beast Boy slowly walked to Raven, and sat down on the edge of her bed.  Raven's eyes snapped open and fell on him.  She pulled the earphone out of her right ear, and said, "Beast Boy.  What do you want?"

"Raven," said Beast Boy, "Let me mend your heart."

Raven looked wary.  "And by 'mend' you mean...?"

"I mean I love you, and I want to be with you," answered Beast Boy.

Raven went very still.  From the earphone that was no longer in her ear, Beast Boy heard the song that she had been listening to and singing with end, and Taylor Swift's "Trouble" start.

Finally Raven said, "I thought you loved Terra."

Beast Boy shook his head and told her what he'd learned six months ago.  Upon hearing his revelation, Raven pulled the other earphone out of her left ear and said, "You were under the influence of a love potion?"

Beast Boy nodded, and said, "But when I found out I kinda stole one of your antidotes and drank it.  And ever since, I've realized that the one I really loved all along was you.   I've always loved you, but the Love Potion messed with me.  I wanted to tell you before, but you were with Aquald.  Then when he broke your heart and you broke up with him, I didn't want you to think I was trying to take advantage of you.  But I can't stand seeing you so miserable, and I'll do anything to make you feel better.  Please give me a chance.  I promise I will never break your heart.  I love you, Raven."

Raven's telepathic and empathic abilities told her that Beast Boy was being 100% honest.  He really did love her--more than anything else in the universe.  And he really did want to be with her.  The love and sincerity pouring from Beast Boy's heart was enough to help heal Raven's own heart a little bit.

"Beast Boy," she said softly, "are you asking me to let you be my boyfriend?"

Beast Boy nodded.  He saw a soft smile play on Raven's lips, and hope filled him.  "Will you accept me?"

"Yes," said Raven.

Beast Boy was so happy that he hugged his new girlfriend.  Raven blushed and awkwardly hugged him back.

"We should probably tell the rest of the Team," said Raven when they drew apart.  Beast Boy smiled, and said, "Let me take care of that.  You just get ready to see them.  I know it's going to be a shock when they see you out and about in the tower--I mean they've only seen you during our missions, and you never said a word to us during that time."

"Okay," said Raven.  "I'll come out in approximately half an hour."

Beast Boy smiled at her, and kissed her hand before leaving her room to gather the team.
