A/N: hi!! quick warning? kinda? there's gonna be a lot of marching terms that i'm using which, if you don't march then you'll have no clue what i'm talking about so,,, oops?? i'll try to make it easier to understand but yeah. enjoy the book!!!
"5 minutes!" Is the last thing the band director said to the band before going outside. It's Friday evening, and yet another football game is about to begin. The band members are grabbing their instruments and heading over to line up, since they march into the game, "like hella cool kids." As Lance says.
"Come on, Pidge! We gotta be out there like now!" Lance is fidgeting and tapping his fingers on his trumpet. "Will you calm your ass? I'm ready. Come on." Pidge pushes past Lance and walks outside with Lance following quickly behind.
After all the band members are outside, the band marches into the smaller looking football stadium. They march around the field and line up for pregame. Basically they play the school's fight song, their school's alma mater, and the star spangled banner. After, they march and make a "tunnel" for the football players to run through while the band plays the fight song.
(^^^ there you go, a visual of what is happening rn.)
For Lance, being a trumpet, he can watch the football players run through the tunnel. Which for him, is a big problem. See, he has a crush on a certain football player. Number 23, Keith Kogane. He doesn't know how he ended up liking a person who doesn't even know he exists but, Lance can't control his feelings.
As they wait for the football players to come out, Lance feels a bead of sweat fall down his forehead. It's hot out. Even though it's September, it's always hot out for the first few weeks.
Then, he looks to his right and sees the football players walking out of the locker rooms. His heart beat accelerates when his eyes lock on number 23. Next thing he knows, they're all running past him and the band is playing the fight song.

"What the hell!! Get down there!" Lance screams from the stands. Another flag. "Fuuucckkk!!!"
"McClain, language!" The band director yells at Lance. Pidge snickers. "Nice one, idiot." Lance shoves her a little bit. Moments later, Lance watches as the ball gets passed to Keith, and there he is running down the field to score a touchdown for the team.
Lance is screaming and jumping up and down. He also might've tripped on the bleachers. Lance swore that Keith looked up into the bleachers and saw him.
"Yes! Number 23!" Pidge yelled before the band played the fight song to congratulate the football team for scoring a touchdown. Lance didn't notice they were even playing the fight song mostly because he was lost in a trance from looking at Keith.
