To Test an Assasin

I've been here for a week, meditating, rarely going outside or talking to any one of my roommates. I haven't seen K.P. since the bed incident, and I do not think I would be comfortable around her at all. Vampires are deadly creatures , who are shunned by most communities. I'm amazed that she is a member of the Blades.

I was pondering about Master's whereabouts , and made an estimation that he would be here in 3 days, given that he is ambushed less than 9 times.

For some peculiar reason, bandits don't seem to recognize powerful individuals. Perhaps they are too intoxicated in their own greed and selfishness to care about their own safety . Perhaps they are actually just a result of a world that is unjust in nature, and therefore fester the land like an open wound.

My train of thought was cut off when I heard Delphine call for everyone to meet outside. Sighing, I put on my leather boots and began walking. An enchantment on my boots kept my steps from being heard, a muffling effect of sorts. Though I'm certain I didn't need them to keep quiet. It did, however, creep out the others.

Most of the people there were warriors, all killers, but their is a major difference between a warrior and an assassin. One yells while the other one silently slits the throats of unexpecting victims. The archers were pretty stealthy, but hands down, I was more in tune with the Void than they were. They were simply emulators of people like me, the people who are the darkness.

Finally, I walked outside the doors into the summit of the mountain. The training field was filled with all of those who resided in the temple, including K.P. I saw her next to a guy wearing nordic battle armor... but something about him seemed wrong. Even from here I could tell that he was of an uncanny sort. Not vampire like her, that I could tell. First of all, he wasn't at all fazed by the sunlight, unlike K.P wearing her hood covering her whole face.

My detective deductions were put on hold once again by Delphine.

"Listen up recruits! Today we learn how strong, or how weak, you really are. You will be facing an opponent of the same gender . You are expected to fight until your kneecaps can't support your pitiful bodies, or until I deem the match unworthy of advancement. The rules are : You can not kill your opponent, or I will personally throw you off the cliff. You can not poison your opponent, save that for the actual enemy. Keep the fight between you two. I don't want a bystander to be blasted by a fireball because of your poor aim. Which leads to my other rule, spells that have an area effect are restricted. Any type of illusion magick won't be allowed either, no matter how entertaining it would be to watch your opponent pretend he is a chicken. Is this all clear?"

We all nod our heads in unison, like children listening to their mother.

"Alright then, we will organize this by newest members first, and veterans to the blades last."

Everybody immediately looked at me, and it felt humiliating to say the least. Delphine gave a smirk before speaking again , "Alright assassin, get yourself over here." She waits until I get in the center of the training arena.

I'm not interested in this, as this isn't my goal as a student. I have no concerns for the well being of my reputation in this circle.

"Eldridge, come here and go up against the new meat." Delphine gestured towards a male wearing a face mask. He nodded slightly and joined me.He seemed to be slightly taller than me, and his muscles were lean but cut. He suited a dark-blue leather armor that seemed very tight on him. His gloves were different though, they had jewels encrusted onto them that glowed with a ink black tint... I should take some precautions.

Everyone took a couple steps back, waiting for Delphine to give the go ahead.She looked right at me, and smirked. I turned and met K.P's gaze, and saw her grim expression. By Sithis, what is my enemy capable of??
