A few weeks after the somewhat traumatizing funeral, John was laying across his bed. Not on his bed, vertically, but across it, lying limply as if he were asleep. Of course, he wasn't sleeping at all, though it might looked like it and despite the fact that he was in a dream-like state. No, John was just thinking in a rather aloof manner, day-dreaming if you will. About Sherlock.

Yes, as the petite man buried his face further and further into the side of his bed, the lanky, deducing (More like seducing) man that he knew as Sherlock Holmes was the only possible thing that he could think of and a constant swimming figure head in his mind.

He thought of the thin, sticky figure and the cool, etching voice that seemed to crawl up his throat and spill eloquently out of his mouth like smoke.

He thought of the brilliant blue-grey eyes that John saw light up and gleam like polished silver when he made deductions.

He thought of his friends large hands and thin, spindly fingers that intertwined in ornate ways when the other floated off to his "mind palace".

Blushing furiously and shoving his hands over his face, John thought of kissing the mouth that the smoke spilled from, looking lovingly into those fantastic eyes, holding those gorgeous hands and engulfing himself in that slender frame.

Though he would never admit it, to anyone or to himself, John loved Sherlock. He loved Sherlock hopelessly and eternally. He thought of the man constantly and loved every bit of him, every deduction, every flaw. though he knew that it might not be good for him, he loved all of Sherlock and he could never admit it to anyone for fear of being destroyed because Sherlock didn't love him back. Sherlock didn't love anyone why would he love anyone, so why would he love someone as ordinary and dull and boring old John Watson? He wouldn't.

That extraordinary type of love that John had for Sherlock, is the kind they call skinny love. Because, you see, Sherlock did love John. He loved John more than he had ever hated anyone. He loved John more than anything, and would do anything for him, but was petrified of admitting it, so they were caught in a sick twisted flux that they call skinny love.
