[Through Jungkook's Eyes]
She spins and she sways
To whatever song plays
Without a care in the world
And I'm sitting here wearing
The weight of the world on my shoulders"Welcome back!" I heard a faint, high-pitched feminine voice yell in the hallway as I entered my house, coming home from a long and tiring day at work. I shook off my shoes and looked down, my six-year-old sister at my side, smiling.
"Hey, Emily," I chuckled tiredly, ruffling her hair a bit. She giggled at the feeling of affection. Exhausted from earlier, I made my way to the living room and sat down, embracing the feeling of finally being able to just relax. I laid my head back and closed my eyes.
"Jungkook?" Emily suddenly asked in a small voice, bringing me out of my small trance. I looked down at her.
"Yes?"
"Remember how last week, you were playing with me, and we were dancing together?" she questioned, keeping her hands together, like she was nervous or embarrassed to ask.
"Mhmm, what about it?"
"Well, I was wondering if we could do it again..."
It's been a long day
And there's still work to do
She's pulling at me saying
"Dad, I need you
There's a ball at the castle
And I've been invited
And I need to practice my dancing
Oh, please, Daddy, please""Ah," I let out, not as a groan, but more as like a sad sigh. "I just got home from work, and I'm really tired..."
"Please?" she begged me, looking into my eyes with her large, brown ones. I could tell she really wanted to. Emily climbed onto the couch next to me. "Just once?"
"Ah...Fine," I said, "Just once for now, and then when can continue tomorrow, okay?" I finally agreed, standing up so we could dance. The biggest smile grew onto her face, and she engulfed me into the biggest hug that her little arms could give.
"Thank you!"
I chuckled, gently hugging her back. "Of course."
She went to get changed into one of her princess costume dresses, and when she came out, I extended my hand to her.
"May I have this dance?"
She giggled and took it, and we danced to the music playing, Emily giggling and jumping around all energetically. In her young eyes, I could still see the innocence they held, and hoped they would stay that way.
So I will dance with Cinderella
While she is here in my arms
'Cause I know something the prince never knewOh, I will dance with Cinderella
I don't wanna miss even one song
'Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnight
And she'll be gone[Timeskip to twelve years later, and Emily is now 18]
"He's really nice, Jungkook," Emily told me, crossing her legs. "He's about your age, maybe a bit older. You'd like him, I promise. He's super sweet and funny, I feel like he radiates the sun's energy..."
She went off to tell me about her new boyfriend. I listened and nodded. Of course, I couldn't tell her no, because she's old enough to make her own decisions, but I still wanted to be sure that she's safe. Recently, ever since they got together, she's been in a better mood, and if there could be hearts floating above her head, there probably could be.
