Zach's POV
Corbyn gave me a reassuring hug before finally opening the dusty, old book. My eyes nervously scanned the page, it was a content page which was coloured an ancient looking white along with red patterns submerged.
Chapter One: Soulmates (Page 1 - 20)
Chapter Two: Religion (Page 21 - 68)
Chapter Three: Torture (Page 69 - 115)
Chapter Four: Forbidden languages (Page 116 - 132)
Chapter Five: How to kill a spirit...? (Page 133 - 167)
Chapter Six: Rituals (Page 168 - 201)
Chapter Seven: Good & Evil (Page 202 - 221)
There were many more chapters but I soon lost interest as Corbyn starts flicking through the pages. He soon stops at Chapter Six.
'Rituals' were written in large bold letters, the font wasn't recognizable so I assumed it was something crested a long time ago.
"You can read through the book later but for now, we need to get this stuff done." The blonde boy mutters, his eyes fixed upon reading.
"Alright," I respond, turning my own attention to a section saying 'Rules.'
Rules:
1. Never miss a step, vital or not - every little thing matters.
2. Respect the spirits, never mistreat them if you expect kindness in return. Always have manners, don't forget to be polite.
3. Don't forget any necessary equipment, be prepared for the best or worse.
4. This isn't only your life you're risking, others may be effected by this so always have a back up plan. Dealing with crazed demonic spirits are bound to be easily angered and will no doubtfully attack without a second thought.
5. Always seem confidence, a weakling who shows emotions such as fear, shock or/and sadness are known as vulnerable. Ghosts won't think twice before feeding off the weak, inhaling the soul as pain floods out any other feeling.
6. DON'T trust anything that comes from the other side. They're persuasive and extremely deadly.
I spent some time reading over the rules before glancing at a picture attached.
It seemed to be showing some kind of pentagram symbol. The five edged star was carved with great care as the surrounding circle leaves a powerful ring of protection between the two objects.
It was a shimmering gold, not a sparkly gold but a cold and distant colour. It made my gut start growling in discomfort, it only reminds me of my hunger although I don't think I could handle eating right now.
The pentagram had a suspicious red substance being carried in the sacrificing basket. It was a nasty rusted coloured black with silver wedged around the edges. For such a seemingly old object, it was in good shape.
"We're actually dealing with the Devil." Corbyn mutters, it appears this has only now sunken in.
"Mhm," Is the only think I mumble back, not trusting my own voice. I knew if I started speaking words, they'll come out frightened and fail to make me seem confident.
Flickering over to the next page, the list of items is layered out.
Necessaries in order to proceed creating the Ritual:
- An object of value, this provides the spirits with an emotional balance when they transport through the portal.
- A spiritual cage, usually a cage will already be surrounding the pentagram. This prevents any normal spirits to cross paths with the ones who don't deserve it. [These won't be seen but felt. A feeling of being trapped will constantly be overwhelming]
That makes me gulp, I won't have Corbyn by my side when I complete this crazy target. If I don't get killed by these ghosts, my heart is bound to go into panic mode and destroy my human breathing system.
Corbyn shares a look of sorrow with me before shrugging slightly. It was his silent way of saying, it was up to me. He wasn't physically allowed to rescue or help me when/if this goes the wrong way.
- A confident caster, whoever creates the portal entrance must be confident. If they aren't, the spirits will come through and instantly know they're in charge. On extremely rare occasions, ghosts will arrive feeling tamed and appreciative; being that you helped them escape Hell.
- There can NOT be anything that harms or angers ghosts laying around. Things such as sage (white or normal), holy Bible, salt ect. [Read Chapter Three for more information]
- A few drops of fresh human blood should be scarified in the scarifier box. This step will open the portal which is when you should continue whatever plan you had originally started. [The wound should be opened with a special dagger, it is most likely located inside the box]
- Finally, it needs to be covered in candles. This is more of a personal step as it will be vital you can see. No lanterns or lamps, you never know how long ago some of the spirits died. [Making them seem old is forbidden in many ways]
Eventually after spending hours worth of time reading through, Corbyn places the book on the bedside table. We sit cross-legged in front of each other, silence is filling the air.
"I hope you don't get hurt," Corbyn speaks quietly, I just shrug. "If I do... It doesn't matter anyway."
During all this time, I've been thinking. If Jack's my soulmate or whatever... Surely, this is how Fate had been meant for us. There's no way of changing Fate and I wasn't even going to try to.
"Stop, if you die for Jack's sake... Everyone in this cottage will become enemies. There's no doubt Jonah, Daniel and me will leave this place as evil spirits will be roaming around. Jack can't leave either as he's bound to this... Wait." Suddenly, Corbyn seems deep in thought.
If we were in any other scenario, I wouldn't want to know what goes through his head but right now I do.
"Maybe, if you die... Jack will be able to exit. His Fate, you, has been lost. He has no self purpose locking him here anymore," The blonde boy explains.
So either way, Jack will be saved... His happiness may not make it though.
-
This chapter was really bad, sorry. I've been dealing with a lot recently and I can't focus on writing.
I'm trying to get to the good bits quickly so it becomes a little bit more enjoyable as of right now, it sucks like a Limelight on one of the boy's dicks.
I'll take Jack, thanks. lmao.
Anyway, if you guys want to go drop a comment and vote on 'Yin Yang' it'll mean a lot. I started a new Randy book a few days ago and yeah, I need reads.
Question: How old is everyone reading this and how old do you think I am? Majority of people who read this is 13 - 18 apparently.
I'll start writing my next update when this chapter gets 100 comments so... Tell your grannies to comment!
