"I give up!"
I sat lazily beside Dana. We're in her boyfriend's cafe to plan for an event. Magkaibigan na kami since highschool and we are now business partners in ViDa. We make parties happen and we also have our own swimsuit line. She manages the business while I'm the creative director and head designer.
She rolled her eyes. "11 AM pa lang pagod ka na naman?" She went to the counter and asked for my coffee.
"Hindi ka kasi mahilig magpahinga. You work so hard. You have all the money, hindi mo na nga kailangang magtrabaho. Oh! Saan ka ba kahapon, Tori? You didn't even bother to answer my messages ha!" Pagalit niyang sabi habang binibigay ang kape ko. Agad ko naman iyong ininom.
"I had a meeting with the in the company because dad appointed a new director. We had a fitting before i got here din. Ah! I'm so tired I wanna sleep lang the whole afternoon!"
"Oh! For the fashion week? Exciting ha! But wait, we have a meeting with Patterns for our collaboration for the design of our new collection. You should be there din later." She scanned my plan for an upcoming birthday party.
"Hmm. I like this one. We should send this to Chantal."
Tumango ako. "I know. I shouldn't have made any plans other than that because I was sure na ganyan ang pipiliin niya. All pink and girly." I almost rolled my eyes. Chantal is Isaac's cousin and she's super maarte and kikay but not that annoying naman. "We should ask her about the outfits na para ma finalize na ng team."
Tinitigan niya ako. "Alam mo, we should hire a new creative director or a new head designer. I know that you ventured in this business because this is what you truly love. But you can be hands on with the business without working your ass out. You know, para mabawasan naman ang ginagawa mo. You're always busy. Tatandang dalagang ka nito eh!"
"Hmm. I'll think about it." I yawned.
She eyed me and raised an eyebrow. "Victoria Isabelle, don't tell me dito ka matutulog? Pano ka magkakaboyfriend niyan? Oh! I remember! Since dinner pa ang meeting natin with Patterns, why don't you go out with someone?" Napatitig ako sa kaya. She's grinning from ear to ear. "A blind date."
I sat properly. This is the first time na ise-set up niya ako with a blind date. I'm kind of excited.
"Who's the guy?" I asked as I am staring intently at her.
"He's Dylan. Isaac's friend. He just came back from the US. I asked Isaac about him and based on his description, he's like super hot and guapo!" She's giggling and it's cringy.
"Do you have a crush on your boyfriend's friend?"
"No! I'm just making you feel excited! He's with Isaac right now and I'll call him muna." Tumayo siya at pumunta sa office.
Kinuha ko naman ang kikay kit ko at nag retouch.
"They're at your cousin's gastro pub pala." I rolled my eyes. Parang ayoko na lang tumuloy. I'm sure it would be really awkward! "Don't worry, Melton's not there daw sabi ni Isaac."
I sighed. Buti naman. If Kuya Melton's there, siguradong tutuksuhin ako non.
"We'll use your car."
Napatitingin ako sa kanya. " Moral support? Hindi ako mangungulit, promise. Behave lang ako." Tumayo na siya bitbit ang kanyang pouch. Mas excited pa ata to sa akin?
"Love! Tori!" Napatingin agad kami kay Isaac na nakasandal sa counter. Halos mapasigaw ako nang makita ko si kuya Melton sa tabi niya. Akala ko ba wala?
