The wind rushes through my fur as I stalk through the dense forest. As I listen to my surroundings, I hear a faint heartbeat somewhere to my left, and start to make my way to the source of the sound. When I come to the edge of the bush, I see a lone moose drinking from a lake located in the middle of the clearing. I lick my lips, and get ready to attack.

Now, I wouldn't normally eat like a wild animal, but I can't afford to shift until I get to Forks. I promised to bring a message to someone there, and I have to stay alive to do it. SNAP! I crouch down as the moose takes off, and a group of 5 men step into the clearing. Three had brown hair, one thin while the other two were stocky. Another had black hair with an athletic build, and the last one had blonde hair with a muscular build. All of them had pale skin and red eyes. I sniff the air and curl my lips back in a silent snarl. 'Fucking vampires’. Suddenly, the wind changes, and I stiffened. As they started to turn towards me, I turn and bolted in the direction I was going in the first place.

My feline form was a blur as I ran as fast as I could, desperate to get away from the vampires that hunted me. Soon the trees started to thin, but they had already caught up to me. I turned and snarled, and readied myself to attack when the blonde one stepped forward and spoke.

“Look kid, you can't win against us. So why don't you just give us the letter and maybe we'll let you live,” he reasoned, “If you won't, then we'll just enjoy tearing you to pieces. Just like we did to your father and his clan.” I snarled, making him shrug.

“Well, I tried. Looks like cougar's on the menu tonight,” he sighed, as he lunged at me. I quickly dodged and ripped his arm off with my teeth.

Suddenly I was grabbed and thrown into a tree. I slowly got to my feet, dazed from the impact. As the vampires approached me, I smelt a new scent in the air that I couldn't identify.

“Oh, how the strong have fallen,” the black haired one laughed, “Or maybe you were just really weak.” They prepared to lunge at me, but stopped when howls rang through the forest. Before they could react, a giant wolf slammed into the leader, ripping his head off. Other wolves then appeared and worked together to take out the remaining vampires.

Once all the vampires had been torn apart, the russet wolf turned towards me. I eyed him as I slowly backed up, and then turned and fled.

‘I didn't know there were other shifter types!’ I thought, ‘But why here, of all places!?’ I slowed to a stop as I reached the outskirts of Forks.

I felt the familiar rush of energy as I shifted back into a human and made sure I still had the letter hanging from my neck. I did, so I snuck into a random house and stole a pair of loose jeans, a t-shirt, shoes and a sweater. Once I was fully dressed, I walked to the nearest store, which was ‘Newton's Olympic Outfitters’. I walked into the store and went to a woman by the counter.

“Excuse me, but do you think you could give me directions to a place called La Push?” I asked.

The woman looked at me and smiled, “ of course. In fact, here's a map of the area.”

“Thank you Ma’am.”

“Oh, please, call me Mrs. Newton,” she said.

“Ok,” I said, “Thanks Mrs. Newton.”

“Nonsense, I'm happy to help. Have a good day.”

I nodded. I left the store and looked at the map. I started walking when I noticed a faint sickly sweet scent. 'Oh, great. More fucking vampires.’ I kept walking but made sure to stay alert.

THIRTY MINUTES LATER:

I finally arrived at La Push. I walked around for another full ten minutes until I found the address of the man I was told to bring a letter to. I walked up to the door and just finished knocking when I heard a growl nearby. Instantly I crouched in a defensive position and looked around, trying to locate to source of the sound.

Not noticing that the door had opened, I jumped when a heard someone clear their throat. Startled, I turn back to the door to see a man in a wheelchair.

“May I help you?” he asked.

“Um, yes. Are you Billy Black?” I asked.

He nodded. “Yes, I am. Is there something you need?”

I took a deep breath, removed the letter from around my neck and handed it to him. “My name is Alicia LeBlanc. Before my father, Lyell LeBlanc, was killed, he asked me to bring this to you.”
