Setting: Leonardo and Luciano are 18 and celebrating their 'not graduation'.
It was a year and a bit into my Alphaship and Luciano and I were celebrating our 'not graduation' with a couple of beers. By 'not graduation' I mean, our class had just graduated but Luciano ditched after middle school and I dropped out when I became Alpha so neither of us had actually graduated.
Luciano had just chucked me another beer when the doorbell rang. It was late at night, it was raining hard outside and I wasn't expecting anyone. I exchanged looks with Luciano before his lips curved into a grin.
"Smells like a human. I'll get it!" Luciano announced with an excited expression.
"No," I said as one of Luciano's favourite past times was messing with humans. And if there was an opportunity, it was going to be mine. "My house, my humans."
I went to the door and opened it to see a soaking wet woman...or girl more like. She had a desperate look on her face and was completely alone. She was also intensely beautiful and looked about the same age as us.
"Hello," I said with a smile.
"I'm sorry to bother you," she began in a sweet, tired voice. "But my car broke down and my phone's out of battery. Do you mind if I use yours?"
Just then Luciano joined me at the door and looked down at the girl. I knew exactly what he was thinking. She was alone and defenceless. Everything Luciano looks for in a partner...
She briefly looked at him and then back to me before shuffling on her feet as her heart rate rose.
"Maybe I should go," she suggested looking down at the floor before turning away. "I-I'm sorry."
"No, no, no. It's horrible weather out there and there isn't another house for miles," Luciano said in a falsely caring voice. "Leonardo, what are you doing? Invite the poor girl in."
"No, it's okay," she said nervously as she backed further away.
Luciano looked at me and grinned. I rolled my eyes in response.
"You should come in," I said in an imperative tone. "You'll freeze out there."
"I'll be fine," she reassured trying to hide her shivers.
"At least use the phone. I insist," I replied.
She shook her head again and I sighed shortly. Now she was pissing me off.
"Come in," I ordered in my Alpha tone. "It's cold."
She smiled weakly and nodded ever so slightly before gingerly stepping into the hall.
"Phone's right here," I said pointing to the landline on the wall in the hall.
She nodded again and shakily took the phone off the hook and dialled a number. It rang many times but nobody picked up.
"Nobody answering?" Luciano asked stepping closer to her.
"My Mom must be out," she said.
"Don't worry," I said putting a hand on her shoulder and turning her away from Luciano. "You can wait here and try again later. I can't let you go back out there alone."
"And maybe when the rain passes, Leonardo can have a look at your car. He's good with cars," Luciano said. "I'm Luciano by the way."
"Polly," she said. "And thank you for the offer but I wouldn't want to burden you-"
"No, not at all!" I exclaimed. "Come on. We'll get you a hot drink and some dry clothes. I'd offer to drive you home but we've been drinking."
I then lead her into the lounge where I gestured for her to sit on the sofa whilst Luciano went into the kitchen to make coffee.
