Makena was like every other 17 year old girl, she was smart, kind, helpful, and she was shy. Makena is a girl who has always been bullied and still is being bullied, she always wonders why, was it because her family didn't have much money? Was it because her family lived in low income housing? Or was it because when she was 15 her parents split up and she now has no father?
Ever since Makena was 10 she knew that at some point her parents were going to divorce and she would have to think long and hard about who she wanted to live with, but Makena didn't want to have to worry about who's feelings she would end up hurting by choosing.
Besides that Makena is no different than any other girl, she has a best friend that she's known since birth, literally, because they were born on the same day at the same time. Their fathers share the same birthday and so do their mother's. Not to mention that their mothers have known each other since they were a week old. Makena's best friend's name is Mataya, but Mataya doesn't know Makena's deepest darkest secrets.
But enough of the details lets get to Makena's story.
